Two decades ago, the concept of five women sitting around a table talking about current events was anything but a sure thing. "In 1997, Barbara Walters had this idea for a show where she'd be talking to other women about the headlines of the day, says Ramin Setoodeh, author of "Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of 'The View.'"

I don’t believe more People watch because of Meghan, I believe more people watch because of Politics and the 2016 Election. Meghan is pretty nauseating. She always has to have a different opinion than everyone else and make it known she’s a Republican. And she mentions “he’s my friend” “she’s my friend” every episode! She tries too hard!

I actually believe that better ratings with Meghan respond less to her honest unabashed political views and more to childish curiosity regarding her disdainful entitled attitude towards all other hosts (except Goldberg, who she likes because her daddy told her to). In any case, it's safe to say that even if she's honest regarding her conservative views, such and adamant stance exists in a huge part thanks to her privileged upbringing. She's not exactly a fighter, she's a republican princess used to be able to get what she wants either just because or after a tantrum.

I loved the interviewer and the way she walked the line between a very professional interview and a normal conversation, the flow was natural, she didn't overshadow the guest and her input was great! I don't think I've ever visited this channel and it's a great first impression!

I didn't know this gentleman put heard about the book. Well I'm glad I didn't know him if he thinks Meghan is good on the show. He says she is his friend so that says why he doesn't see her disrespectful behavior. She is sickening with her behavior. A woman with deep mental health issues and just et so excited when talking about drinking. She acts like a child and the only reason she is on the show is her father and money. She shows she has very little knowledge on any subject. There are many who want her gone. Plus if there is alcohol in her coffee mug which she said she should be let go. The View is not the Jerry Springer show which she would do good on. So when she gets disrespectful she would get slapped.

Barbara, Joy, Star, Meredith, Whoopi, Elisabeth, and Rosie are the most memorable from the show. Meghan and Sunny are becoming well known too. I loved the book and it was juicy and filled with lots of crazy stories. Rosie seems like a great person when hanging out and doing normal stuff, but can be a major tyrant to work under.

If author says he's good friends with the highly critized Meghan McCain, I guess any sequel will be biased. I didn't realize he was personal friends with any of the ladies. It's all about perspective. Outside perspectives are generally more objective than the perspective one has for their personal friend.

I'm a huge fan of the VIEW ! I was a New York city girl and in 1967 left for the height ashbuery and never went back! I'm almost 70,I side with Joy ,adore Whoopi and she often speaks for me...more than anyone does! and find the conversation fascinating and informative...Megan holds respect and while she is profound and I truly appreciate her point of view, her youthful arrogant demeanor has too much white privelidge to be heard across the divide. She fights like she has something to lose while she has certainly been the biggest of winners in a white patriarchal culture. I do love her ...she is lovable...but really sister! each woman has a right to decide for their own body. YOU DO and I respect that...get down off your high horse and put on the hat of poverty in a world that really can't afford another child...and talk some sense woman! sometimes sometimes

the real reason meghan strikes a nerve is because she takes any opposing view extremely personal and becomes extremely defensive, and in all honestly acts like a spoiled child. that is why she is written about in the way she is.

I love the show, but I don't like that there is so much hate talk now about Meghan and Joy. They have different opinions, and they are there to express different VIEWs. People seem to think Joy is a goddess and Meghan is a spoiled little rich girl. Any comments I have made against Joy have been met with rage. Joy is loud, irritating, and thinks she is the funniest person on earth. She interrupts and shuts down Meghan all the time. Yes, Meghan interrupts, but usually when she has been interrupted. I do not agree with most of Meghan's politics; but I defend her right to express them and not be demonized for being too "shrill" and "entitled".

I really enjoyed this interview about the view, it was an eye opener......My humble opinion on this TV daytime show is simple this, it should have been canceled years ago.....It has morphed into something that is tasteless.....The women on the show are fighting over who is or who should be "THE QUEEN BEE". These women would cut off the head of their co-hosts just to prove their point....Instead of a Who's Who in the world of Art, Fashion, The Movie Industry, and In Music, it has become "THE TALKING HEADS OF POLITICS" and the hateful, disrespectful, down right vicious statements and comments made are extremely distasteful to say the least.......I equate this show to "JERRY SPRINGER IN COUTURE".......
