One take with live video! This was incredibly hard. Ben's technique is super clean and sustained. It felt good to nail a take that I was happy with, and it also felt good to learn more about the weak points in my voice. Sometimes you need a song to put you in your place so you know what to work on. I'm definitely going to keep practicing and work on getting better!

can you tell us if you have any presets when recording e.g. compressors or reverb or double layering ?

Sure! compression is always a must with screams, so there's always compression in my covers. I use reverb and delay as well, but I mainly use it to match how the vocals in the original song are mixed. If they use a lot of reverb, then I use a lot of reverb! For this cover, it felt better to not use as much as reverb/delay so that my vocals were as present as Ben's (although, they created a super gnarly atmosphere with his voice when mixing, and I'm currently not talented enough to replicate that sort of depth). All my covers that say live vocal cover (one take), are done in one recorded take. So I never double layer in these videos! it's only one take of my voice. if it doesn't say live vocal cover, then I did it in segments, and I occasionally throw in a vocal layer. But I try to stick to one take as much as possible!
