The city was fortunate to be pretty well built & escape further earthquake damage. Those structures deemed unsound are best destroyed before they potentially collapse in an aftershock. Fascinating excursion by The ActionKid. 🐼

Even though we live upon a rock, the “solid” has motion. yes, very scary. Makes you feel insecure. Supposedly if you are in motion you won’t feel the quake as much. Having lived through 3 major quakes, the thought of another is always in mind, but suppressed.

They had an earthquake 3 april 2024 of 7.2 on the Richter scale which caused a lot of damage, the epicenter of which was located in Hualien, it was the strongest earthquake which had on this island, this island is located between 3 tectonic plate, this is why you discover the extent of the damage caused by earthquakes.😢

The epicenter was in the ocean off the east coast of Taiwan. Hualien happened to be the closest city to the epicenter. By the time it hit Taiwan it was less than 7.0. I was in Taipei during this earthquake, 7th floor of the Hyatt not fun!
