I don’t understand the utter lack of communication in this small group! For example, why hasn’t Tabitha share what happened to her down below? Why don’t they question Victor more about growing up in the town? Why don’t they discuss with everyone the voice over the radio? Why don’t they discuss trying to trap a monster to try to see what happens at dayrise? also if Tabitha knows where they sleep, why aren’t they sending an expedition? Why isn’t there a meeting to go over what happened to Boyd while he was gone? How are they not all having town meetings to share experiences and plans?? I loved this show but now the episodes feel like random fillers, or a sandwich with tasty bread only and nothing inside. I have hope tho that it picks up again soon!!

no doubt, anytime anyone asks a good question the other one says i gotta go or i don't want to talk about that now, hate that in the writing as much as the idea of dropping a busload of extras into the plot so they can get a lesbian into the story. adding more people to the town could have waited until much later in s2 or s3 after expanding the mythology & filling in some of the details that are going to be needed to keep this thing floating. i'd really like to know why they are so certain that the monsters won't hunt in the daytime & people just wander around all day like there's no danger. did they see a psycho cannibal zombie beast burst into dust & ash when sunlight hit them like they have vampire dna, or watch them run to the woods & the cave at the break of dawn? just because they haven't slaughtered anyone after sunrise yet doesn't mean they can't & won't.

Lol it’s a fiction series. You have to suspend real life logic and just view the show for what it is. This goes for 100% of all stories based on fiction, especially any horror series. If you are going to apply real life logic then you’re just going to keep upsetting yourself. Turn your brain off and enjoy the show.

I feel like a lot of these questions are nit picky/answers based on setting. It’s a supernatural world so why are you surprised the voice knew Jim’s name or knew his wife was digging? Every paranormal movie or show the ghost or demon knows the persons name kinda goes with the theme so that answers some of your questions. If they are being watched and there’s supernatural forces involved then that answers your storm question as literally every show and movie the demon or whoever gets pretty pissed when the protagonists try to fight back. The tunnel question victor did say “this is where they live”. So that’s your answer there. The spider bites is really your top question regarding this show? Considering it made Boyd pass out/incapable of walking I’d say they are venomous. Question 31 answers question 32 lol because the dude put his blood into Boyd that’s why there are works. Sure some of those are “mysteries” but alot of them are just nit picky

The nurse lady with one eye has seemed like a plant to me too. In the beginning of season 2, there are a few scenes where she goes around and talks to people for no real reason, like when Jade was in Victor's room. If you look closely, you will see that there are TWO different symbols in the notebook. Both symbols have three lines but one symbol has two lines that curve to the upper left and the other symbol has two lines that cross each other in the middle. I have theorized that these symbols represent the yin and yang (ie good and evil) in the town. Like the show Lost, I believe that the philosophical argument playing out is whether human kind is inherently good or innately evil and the monsters represent evil and the boy in white is symbolic of good. The symbol that Jade makes on the barroom floor with the bottles is the symbol that has the two crossed lines in the middle instead of the symbol that has two lines curving up to the left. Therefore, I think that the symbol with the crossed lines in the middle most likely represents evil and the madness that enveloped Christopher. That symbol is also drawn next to the ominous red figure in the monster cave so it seems to be directly related to the monsters in my opinion. Also, if you go to S1 E10 at the 11th minute and pause the map, I believe the silver pinsticks on the map forms the symbol with the crossed lines in the middle.

I'll admit I'm struggling with it, in season 1 we were instantly introduced to the monsters (Nooooo grandma! bad!) and were slowly but surely drip fed information and clues. Season 2 is like the worst parts of Lost, everyone is keeping everything secret, no one is talking about or planning to investigate anything. Their underground lair, with an entrance/exit they COULD try and block off? Oh no, let's keep that secret! And what the heck is up with all the excessive F-word being used in every episode? There must be 20-30 uses of it in this one alone Swearing doesn't bother me, but this is really over the top and unnecessary. I'm finding myself skipping forward in scenes now, a 45 minute episode lasts around 20 minutes because it's filled with rubbish that has no bearing on the story. WITH that said, given that there's groups of abandoned cars, I'm starting to wonder if the town is like an escape room, with a timer When that timer expires, the remaining residents turn into the monsters, then a fresh batch of people are shipped in and it starts again.

This is correct - piled on too much without really giving us an understanding to anything. At this point, any resolution or explanation will be more of a “damn, finally” type of reaction from all of us. Dragging the storyline and introducing way too many different plot points took away the suspense.

After watching season 2 episode 5 I finally had the revelation that this is about folks being trapped in a nightmare in which only the dream God-the Sandman or "Onkui" can free them. Consider the Sandman song playing on the jukebox in the diner, and later, the female character being swarmed by the ghosts of dead children who chant "Onkui" over and over. I just can't figure out who's nightmare they're trapped in. It might be the nightmare of the guy who's been there the longest. Sorry I keep forgetting all their names. Also, the little boy confronting the lady who tried to kill him, calling her a monster. As soon as he did that she ceased to be a monster to him. That is often what happens in nightmares - they cease to be a nightmare after you confront the terror. I also think the fact the story is disjointed with random acts of inexplicable terror adds to the theory that these characters are trapped in a nightmare

I think Angkooey might mean mother, to the kids anyway. They're all in white and look like they possibly had some type of illness when they passed, which is usually the cause of death for a group of kids that age from many years ago. They don't seem like they want to hurt Tabitha. The boy in white might be related to them as well but his spirit was set on a different path. It might turn out that the boy is malevolent and the other kids are benevolent 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have a feeling Randall is another Sawyer from Lost. He'll be the asshole that ends up useful with a few redeeming qualities. I also don't trust that old lady. When she gave Kristi her morphine it felt suspicious like she had bad intentions, like she knew the other girl is an addict. Then she brought up Sara being back like she knew it would trigger Kristi. I think she was stirring the pot. She seems like a plant. 🤔

None of the characters act like they are in a strange town that is plagued at night by monsters, with the exception of Jade. A lot of them are just relegated to pottering about. Why aren't they sharing information properly in regular town meetings? Why aren't they going into the caves and setting fire to/trying to kill the creatures? Why aren't they scouring the forest for clues or that symbol? Why aren't they setting up traps? Why aren't they sitting at the windows talking to the creatures to get information? Just so strange how they're all so insular.

When analyzing the word "Anghkooey" for possible meanings, anagrams, wordplay, and numerical interpretations, it's important to note that the word appears to be a fictional or invented term. As such, it may not have pre-existing definitions or specific linguistic associations. However, we can still explore some creative possibilities: Anagrams: Rearranging the letters of "Anghkooey" can yield different combinations. Here are a few examples: "Okay gone" "Kanye go oh" "Hank gooey" "Yoke hang" Phonetic connections: Considering the phonetic sounds of the word, it could evoke associations or wordplay with similar-sounding terms. Some interpretations might include: "Angkooey" (a play on "anguish" and "kooey," meaning a shout or call) "Ankh gooey" (linking the Egyptian symbol of life, the ankh, with a sticky or gooey substance) Numerical interpretations: Assigning numerical values to the letters using a system like A=1, B=2, etc., we can sum the values to derive potential numerical meanings. In this case, "Anghkooey" would sum up to 96. It's worth noting that without further context or authorial intent, the true meaning or purpose behind the word "Anghkooey" may remain elusive. It could be intentionally open to interpretation or simply serve as a unique element within the fictional world of the story.

I think Christopher stole all the talisman rocks and hid them where Boyd found them, thus killing everyone except Victor who was hiding. This season, the dialogue missed so many opportunities, a bus comes and no one wants to ask how life is on the outside the last 6 months? Like Lost, everyone is on their own quest and no one wants to tell each other what they all know. Like Boyd saying Sara can here voice, but not mention what those voices were saying.

I recently binged all of season one and have been watching your breakdowns for season 2 but so far it seems extremely slow paced like I could start watching season 2 right now and not need to have watched any prior episodes because the show is moving so slow I noticed that even while watching season 1 like when they were trying to figure out how to get power for the tower and some how teacups just didn’t think at all about the wires despite HIM AND HIS FAMILY LITERALLY SEARCHING FOR THE POWER SOURCE FOR THE LATER HALF OF SEASON 1 and Jade having to save the day. Like I don’t mind Jade as a character but the father and the family as a whole (teacup and co. ) feel like unnecessary characters, like they all have interesting story beats to follow but arent or weren’t doing any of it for lol or most of season 1 the dad pissed me off the most tho. And than the sheriff and Sarah are both really interesting characters but with how they still have yet to address their new dynamic to the rest of the main cast or at least people I would regard as leaders in the town proves to me that the writers aren’t concerned with actual character development from challenging interactions they could face. I feel I could type a whole essay about this shows lack of impact on how the characters chose to deal with situations they see. But it’s not the place for that

I think this episode was more about Randall and the nature of these creatures as demonstrated in the bus scene. When randall screamed at them saying he didn't fear them they let him alone. It's also stated later in the episode that fear is power and that's probably what these creatures want and why they lost interest on Randall. And the Victor storyline was secondary giving us an insight on what happened. I think this was a good episode but overall it still didn't have much to offer. Not a lot of things happened. It's not as bad as 3,4 but I'd expect more at this point. It feels show is really stale and 80 percent of the episodes are interactions between citizens instead of progressing the story or having some action. It's getting really frustrating to watch when all this has turned into some kind of social drama.

It's hard to pinpoint what is most frustrating about this show. I am overrun with common sense questions after every scene. Why is everyone so stupid? Why does no one act like a normal person? Why does no one communicate? Why do we continue to revisit the same retread scenes over, and over, and over again? We get it. Living there sucks. But does WATCHING it have to, too? God I feel psychic damage from this show sometimes, the way they drag out one plot development across five episodes and at least twice as many terse, screaming performances from Elizabeth Saunders tellin' people to shut the fuck up. Why did the dad just let his kid walk up to the psycho chick who tried to kill him? Why hasn't Tabitha told anyone anything she's seen yet? Why didn't anyone discuss the radio until now? Aren't they all DESPERATE to leave? Wouldn't conversations like that consume their every waking moment? Why did a scene about a woman confronting the person who let her husband die make me feel nothing but embarassment for the actors? Why are they not all constantly trying to escape, or at the very least, find some way of relating to the world around them? They all just bicker like it's the first night at a last second motel. You'd think there would be a new religion, or a fight club, or something. Something interesting to watch. You mean we're in the SECOND season and just now learning the backstory of a character who has been there since the first season, whose experiences are integral to the story? And still nothing, really. Where is the sense of urgency, empathy, incredulity that should exist in a situation like this? Why is it all somehow so boring? I think what might be more frustrating than any of this is that if this show doesn't hit some predetermined metric on a sheet, it'll be cancelled, the questions they never intended to answer won't be answered, and no one is honestly going to think twice about why it didn't work. They'll just make another one. I just hope it's not so boring.

Given that the writer of this story is the same as "Lost," it could be interesting to speculate on some theories about the plot. Keep in mind that these theories are purely speculative and may not align with the original vision of the writer. Here are some possible hypotheses: Parallel dimensions: There might be an interaction between parallel dimensions or alternate universes. The dates engraved in the stone could represent crucial moments when these dimensions overlap or come into contact with each other. Time loop: There could be a time loop in which events repeat continuously. The trapped town could be a sort of time loop in which the Matthews family and other characters are forced to relive the same events over and over again. Supernatural elements: There might be a supernatural element involved, such as creatures or mystical forces that control the characters' destinies. The word "Anghkooey" could be a spell or magical formula connected to these supernatural elements. Scientific experiment: There could be a scientific experiment underway, similar to the Dharma Initiative in "Lost." The town and the events that occur could be part of a social or psychological experiment conducted by a mysterious organization. Themes of redemption and sacrifice: Like in "Lost," there could be themes of personal redemption and sacrifice for the characters. Each character could be involved in a journey of personal growth and have to confront their past actions or inner demons.

My theory is that the town is some type of prison for various types of monsters. I think the town was created by witches or some type of mystical being to protect the rest of the world. The town was created because the monsters couldn’t die and whomever or whatever put them there didn’t want them to get out. I also think the reason that people are being trapped there is because the monsters found some type of loophole to their imprisonment, let things in and use them as a food source, entertainment, etc.

Maybe it's because I just did a Lost rewatch but when Boyd was calling out for Vincent did anybody else expect a dog to come trotting in?

Could someone be watching them and that everything that happens is an illusion? What I mean is the one who spoke to Jim on the radio and told him what his wife was doing and that it was dangerous. Was it a warning or a threat? 😊Anyway, Frome is the best series I've seen

I watch your recaps because I cannot watch the show anymore. No one talks to each other and there are always convenient interruptions when someone ACTUALLY asks a valid question.

I think this is the best directed, acted and has the best cinematography of any of this season. We finally FEEL for Victor, Sarah and Tien. They were not very well fleshed out prior, but now I'm totally invested in them. The town seems to reset every fifty years or so....
