I love the bat necklace, Angela! Also, I find really intriguing the philosophical idea at the beginning about how our identity is ever changing. Memory is our constancy. Someone remind me to do some Gurdjieff readings because I've got all the books from him and several about him. Ouspensky's "In Search Of The Miraculous" really moved me when I read it (and I still have it there somewhere).

Subscribed! Dr. Angela, you are my Goth crush, and Gurdjieff is my favorite mystic of his era. I'd love to see some videos on Dr. Maurice Nicholl and Ouspensky, who took his ideas in Beelzebub to psychoanalysis and Kant respectively. 142857

Ritual possession during a Cyberpunk 2077 session led me here. Taoists practicing wu wei and the Buddhist aim to either eliminate or gain conscious control over instinct and conditioned behavior; kleshas or attachments; are long held strategies which have been successful for many in tempering Gurdjieff's Kundabuffer claimed to result in slavery to one's instincts or conditioned behavior. We agree the dualist interpretation of the soul and body is absolute delusion however we disagree that pleasure should be completely shed; the Tao says otherwise. As a bodhisattva myself and sometimes a Living Buddha I would suggest practicing Buddhism, Taoism and Ruism ( praise Lord Confucius ) to balance the human need for enjoyment ( praise Sri Krishna 🦚 ) with the need for deconditioning of the unhealthy or unproductive instincts and conditioning which is also offered in the upcoming alien immortality program Ellistea whose vaporware name is Alien Mind Control or Project Halcyon which unfortunately requires 8 years of veganism even for consideration. Hail Lord Hitchens.😢

Great 🧘. Thank you. Concise, most clear and inviting for more... Gurdgieff is indeed an influence. Shaky part to me is that he seemed to learn early on from asceticism oriental schools and, alas, from russia-whereabouts cult of suffering and it's 'purification' effects. It unfortunately is a bit too much of a 'specific' bias, that shows a bit too much to my taste in his in many ways brilliant teachings. So, probably, it is not a good idea to take all of his 'work' onboard, as (they say) Stalin and Hitler and oh some of our 'contempiraries' probably did... Predictably inflicting more suffering on the world than themselves, though 'with a light heart'... I would be specifically cautious about self-limiting and Suffering. Sad parts 😢

sadly, like a lot of esoterists of his time, and today,, Gurdejev was not perfect, and in his book there are a few really strange topics: like his thirade against modern toilets and wc seats, and also separate gender education, because in his theory they produce homosexual behaviours, that in his view was one of the most deplorable thing possible.. also he had some problematic views on women and femminine sexuality and spirituality and nature.. so yeah he filled the book with a lot, a lot of misoginy and homophobia.. also..anyone see the seeds of the Scientology extraterrestrial theology in the Gurdejev "tales of good demons from out of space" (and how to forget the crows scientist race from saturn?)

Hmm, Gurdjieff... Not a 'hasnamuss' himself, imo, but a 3d genius in a 4+d cosmos. I give him credit for his communications to Ouspensky et al for stopping all work on the Fourth Way. He wanted to convey the idea of a cosmo theoretic mandala that has to cease in the end. There's nothing worse than dogma in our world of uncertainty and probabilities. Nothing is true...🙂
