What keeps the charcoal from smudging. Fascinating art. Thank you

I'm right handed, so I work from left of the paper to the right. That helps a ton to reduce smudging. I also tape some Parchment paper to my hand which also helps. :)

Do you mean while he is working? If so, it is the process he utilizes to progress. He is right handed so he works from left to right so that his hand is always leading the process. Also he had a napkin under his hand

Would love to see you work on developing a grid of hyperrealistic textures. There's always one texture I can't seem to get right

I'm not too sure what you mean by "grid of Hyperrealism textures". If you mean for me to do small examples of all the textures? they're are millions of them so it would never end haha. Is there one specifically that you have trouble with? :)

@cfiddlerart3783 I learned textures using an 8x8 grid set at 2" side length per square. I would be given pictures of 64 object and have to replicate a section of each object in hyperrealism. I mainly struggle with the textures of loose skin, fur vs hair, and smooth wet surfaces (i.e., shallow puddle or corner of eyeball). Any help/suggestions would be great

@@OPC249 ohh i see. Maybe ill do something like that in the future. As for the other textures, unfortunately a lot of time it just take lots of practice. Something that might help is to do the difficult texture on a larger format. I find doing intricate stuff on small scale is much more difficult than if it were on a large scale, for example 8x10". you might get the hang of it a little easier, and then you'll be able to draw it at smaller scale easier, as you practice it at large scale. I do have a video on drawing fir on my channel. you might find that of use as well. Just keep at it. You'll get the hang of it eventually. Best of luck.
