My father was from Kennebunk Maine from the 30s. He used to tell me stories about him and his family of 17 (15 kids) living off the land and hunting and fishing and my grandma baking once a week and laying all the goodies on the large dining table to rise and cool covered with old clean sheets. I envisioned a log cabin as a child but it was a regular house on a hill. Lol haha I live in New Port Richey Florida and the cost of living is so high here $1700 to $3000 a month just to rent a very average apt or home. You guys are so informative and I adore your channel. You both are so smart and resourceful. It's nice to see a married couple who have great values and are living a happy sustainable life. I'm gonna be 49 and my hubby 50 so Idt we would want all that work but I love vicariously through your videos every week. I love your knowledge of herbs and plants please continue with more of that. Thank you for being awesome and btw your daughter seems happy healthy and is living a great life! Amazing job mom and dad.

I'm a new subscriber ad always look forward to your videos I've always wanted to live in Alaska but nobody else did I was brought up like the Amish/Mennonite ways also canning wringer washer etc so I have bought 5 acres and older couple had it and had animals here I also do too chickens..goats and soon a heifer for milking but plans change my husband passed away of cancer but I still do the small farm here but keep the videos coming because your my only chance of being in Alaska ❤

Hey y'all, I'm new here. Thank you for giving us a history on y'all. I'm in Louisville Kentucky, hence the Southern accent, even in typing. Lol. Can y'all do an in depth story on why y'all chose homesteading? How y'all met, how do you make money to live? How did you purchase the small house? How did you afford all the equipment? I'm 56 and can't figure out how people save enough to buy all the big boy toys. Those are a few things I'd like to know.

We simply wanted the lifestyle! To support our homestead we have ran various small home based businesses, from agriculture and herbal products to commercial fishing. I have even done remote real estate work. The equipment we saved and bought when ready (the tractor you see was rented!). With the sweat equity we put into our first property, we were able to buy the farmhouse to fix up. We hope this helps! ❤️

Even though I am a 77 yr old widow that enjoys all the comforts and conveniences I can get, I am enjoying watching your videos of what looks like the adventure of a lifetime. It is amazing how much knowledge of herbal remedies you have and also the ability to fix or build whatever you need. You both work very hard every day just to exist in such a remote area with such a harsh climate. My husband and I visited Alaska and loved its breathtaking scenery. I do have a couple of questions for you. In all of the shots of the inside of your cabin, I have not seen any furniture or you ever sitting to eat. Do you have any furniture? Also, I was wondering if you have an indoor bathroom? Thank you for sharing your lives with us.

We do have an indoor toilet & shower, but the well is not hooked up, so outhouse for now.
