Interviews with guests that know both worlds are always very interesting ... Thank you for this one, Pete

Im a Thai born in USA. I can speak Thai but cant read. Like this guest, i am a duel citizen and can relate to his experience with racism growing up. Me and my sister were the only asian kids in our grades. I am 47 now and will retire at 50. I will be moving back to Thailand with a government pension. My daughter is currently 4 years old and my plan is for her to go to a Thai school and also home school her with a US online home school program.

There are some good, accredited international schools in Bangkok. ( not all students are “spoiled rich kids” btw. Most students come from supportive parents that value a good education). My daughter, ( now 35 years old) attended a couple international schools in the Middle East and KL, Malaysia. Her education was the best and being with over 27 nationalities and having Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist friends was an education in itself. True, the tuition is expensive. ( My employer paid for my child’s tuition.) These authentic international schools will hire certified, experienced teachers from Western countries ( foreign contract). These schools are nonprofit so the tuition goes back into hiring good educators, keeping the curriculum relevant, and having a great extracurricular activities for students to choose from. Something you should consider.

Swadee Krub. I'm the dude whom Pete was having the conversation with for this particular episode. There were only 4 Asian kids in the schools (middle school and then high school) that I attended in that small Northern Florida town called Gainesville back then in the early 1980s era with 2 being Chinese Americans while the remaining two were my older brother and myself. The 2 Chinese American kids weren't all that friendly with me in the school either as they were more of the 'Twinkies'. Oddly enough. it was mostly the Punk Rock, New Wave, and the Artsy kids who were more open-minded and became friends with me while in school.

@@scorpiorising577- I understand what you mean about not having it as easy as some or harder for that matter. We all have to play with the hand we are dealt with in life be it a weak hand or a stronger one. My high school of 3000 had about 1000 Asian students. Being half Asian you’d think that was an advantage, but somedays it sure didn’t feel like it. 555 We all have our cross to bare. Chok dee,

Emm has had a "privileged" life but was able to use his intellect, creativity, wisdom, and good value system to become a successful, focused adult. Too bad we didn't have a photo of his family. Was this guy giving the Thai guy a hard time about his lack of Thai communication skills? He said "popcorn my crap".. I wasn't sure if it was an intentional smackdown or if he was jokingly giving him a hard time.😆 It was definitely nice one either way tho! 🙌🏽 But the tone of interview, immediately changed after he revealed the level of combat training he has received over the years. He also realized it was Bruce Lee on the wall ..🥷🏼 It was then, when he stopped joking around. I personally loved the not so subtle reminders of how much bad he could sprinkle upon any unfortunate soul that dare bully him. Without hesitation, he would instantly stop bullying in it's "beeping" tracks. The process of him roughing up a bully into submission (a lovely fruitful friendship) is likened to a pizza man taking a rough, dry ball of dough, kneading it his version of perfection (lovely pizza crust that will turn the most ridged frown, upsidedown) This my friends, will remain among the most valuable lessons in this beloved day. Let's hope and pray that this will keep us all on the friendship side of this guy's beep beeping roughing up!🥺🙏🏽

I would be concerned about the state of the condos built recently in 30 years time. I would not buy a condo in a building of more than 6 floors in Thailand. I would actually say that buying a second hand condo and refurbishing it is better than buying a new condo or an off-plan one.
@scorpiorising5774 ай бұрын
Howdy. I'm the dude having the chit chat with Pete in this particular episode. It must be largely due to the Thai blood within me, but the majority of the Thais (at least those who come from the middle/upper middle class families, the 'Hi-So' included) tend to prefer buying brand spanking new properties (condos, townhouses, or single family homes) rather than condos that have been previously owned by other people. The first condo property, the 1 bdrm 1 bath at Venio Sukhumvit 10, that I bought from Ananda Development Group only has 8 floors total and mine is on the 6th floor of that building. The 2nd condo property, the 2 bdrm 2 bath at Ashton Asoke-Rama9, has 2 high-rise buildings of 42 floors where mine is a corner unit on the 15th floor of their Omega building. I'm not too concerned about 30 years from now and probably will consider buying at least 1 to 3 more condos (only the newly built or about to get built properties) within the next 3 - 5 years for some additional passive income while I'm still willing to tolerate working in the Corporate America before I decide to go walk the earth like Kane from Kung Fu.
@johntheaccountant55944 ай бұрын
@@scorpiorising577 I recall you took a mortgage on at least one of the condos. Difficult to make a profit on a condo when you are paying interest on a rented out condo. Other things to take consideration of is that the maintenance/service charge generally doubles every 5 years in Bangkok and one forgets that some of the furniture will need replacing and the kitchens and shower room need fixes/changes after 5 years.

@@ccrider8483 yes I understand that. I also understand he said Deep South because ppl not from America equate that to being a racism. You’re allowed to tell any story you want in this life but hopefully it’s a true one
@ccrider84834 ай бұрын
@nicks3933 "Truth", is a tricky one and I am not going to comment on what is true or not, especially in an election year. If one were to equate racism with a particular geographic location then that would result in a disservice to all the racists that live in places you may think are progressive. To put it simply racism and geographic location have little in common, IMHO.
