Great spotlight there James. Yeah thrash metal is still going strong. There's a few here I'll have to check out. And I still need to pick up the f&j and the Xentrix now that you've reminded me. Good point about thrash not being known for the good vocals but yeah Knutson's vocals are by far some of the best in metal nevermind thrash. That Onslaught is a beast of an album, gave it a listen the other day actually, a modern classic for sure.

Sadus is a fine return to form - Xentrix too. Acid Reign did a great comeback album as well - not many bands can pull it off after being away for so long. I have most of the ones you have shown, but I would like to add Exodus 'Tempo of the damned' and Sacrifice 'The ones I condemn'. Overall a good video there mate !!

Great video James, some really good picks. That Sadus record is excellent, hopefuly they'll follow it up with another banger soon. Testament's "The Formation Of Damnation" is a masterpiece, "Dark Roots of Earth" is a beast as well in my opinion. And of course we can't go wrong with Xentrix, their latest effort is indeed great. I would include Metallica's "Death Magnetic" & Slayer's "Christ Illusion" to this list. Christ Illusion in general needs more love, I never see it really mentioned sadly. It has some really killer and brutal riffs on it, worth giving a relisten 🤘
@mrboulder97142 ай бұрын
Christ Illusion is definitely a Slayer album that flies under the radar Kenan. Yep, Testament have released also many great albums recently. Sadus and Xentrix are also not relying on past glories Cheers mate as always 👍

Awesome modern Thrash list James! Some awesome albums here like Time is up, Enter the grave and Generation antichrist. Need to check out some Sadus and Suicidal Angeles, never listened to Bonded by blood either. Formation of damnation is a fantastic album, one of few Testament albums I'm missing. Haven't listened to those Forbidden or Xentrix albums yet, but I'm still quite new to Forbidden. I'll get to them eventually. Albums I'd add here are Christ Illusion, Endgame, Worlds torn asunder (Warbringer), The atrocity exhibition, The dream calls for blood and a Municipal Waste album 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻

There are so many post 2000 Thrash albums that are fantastic. Totally agree with your list. The German "Big 4" produced some real classics as well. Some of those "new" bands had killer albums. Warbringer´s debut, Fueld By Fire´s second record... the list could go on forever. Thrash Metal did a better job than the more modern Death Metal scene imo! Death Angel´s comeback album is my fave, a bit controversial but that´s just my opinion.

The German big 4 have definitely been better than the American big 4 in the 21st century. Cheers Jurgen

It all hinges on production for me and unfortunately I don't get to know these new albums because a lot of the recordings hurt my ears 😔 Although I think between 83 and 91 when thrash was popular and they sound good production wise I've got a lifetimes worth to keep me going. I'm still filling in gaps from those years! Plus I would say probably only Vektor comes to mind as someone who have pushed the genre forward any.

A lot of these bands I've heard of but never had a chance to get into growing up. I honestly decided to sell most of my 2000s thrash(at least after 2010). I just realized in the last 15 years when I want to listen to thrash it's the 80s stuff I want to hear, and I kept buying the new albums from bands and not listening to them. I still enjoy Sodom, Kreator, Overkill, and Anthrax, but I haven't enjoyed any releases from Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, or Death Angel in 15 years, but I bought all the CDs. None of them are bad albums I just have to force myself to listen to them. Part of the problem is I hate modern productions, modern tones just grate on my ears, and albums have gotten too long for me to enjoy, and I have no nostalgia with them. I'd rather go get some early Forbidden, Dark Angel, Sadus, Vio-lence, or Razor then keep buying albums from bands who don't know when to stop. My taste have changed a lot and I enjoy traditional Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, and Punk more then thrash.

Not a single album from a newer band. Modern Heavy Metal is great, but I honestly can't get into any modern Thrash. Anyway, here's my list: - Destruction: The Antichrist, - Sodom: M-16, - Kreator: Violent Revolution, - Slayer: Christ Illusion, - Anthrax: For All Kings, - Sepultura: Quadra, - Megadeth: The Sick, The Dying... and The Dead!, - Metallica: 72 Seasons, - Metal Church: Congregation of Annihilation, - Flotsam & Jetsam: I Am the Weapon (besides the awful cover).
