I’ll never forget watching my mother cry her eyes out when this happened. I was 8 years old, I grew up a mixed child (black and white) in a republican county in Wisconsin. My mother endured a lot of bs growing up for the color of her skin, that night was a true personal triumph for her and as a young kid I felt it.

I vividly remember when this happened I was 9 the first time, and 13 the second time and it was such an exciting moment watching this history be made alongside my dad and my dear grandpa🩵 Now, being 25 I came back to re-watch his beautifully spoken and inspiring speech. 💙 & yes I have been an active voter using my right and voice! So disappointed at the recent outcomes, but as Ms. Harris said, keep fighting💙

Too bad republicans majority congress made sure he couldn’t implement the things he wanted to, that would have helped make this country more equitable. We got the ultimate “overcorrection” with the burnt and crispy unofficial McDonald’s mascot that succeeded him.

I remember sitting in a hotel room in LA, my brother's had gone food shopping since we were gonna be there for a while and we didn't want to eat out every meal. We all had Obama tops on, I had broken 8 bones the week before trying to see Obama at the last Rally he held in Colorado, we were warned to make the trip to get food fast because it was election night, and the hotel was near Hollywood boulevard. My brother's decided that because I was on cruches and in a boot I would stay behind. I was told to call if the election was called before they got back. I was in the middle of getting things unpacked and ready for the next day when they called it. I started to cry because of how big this was for the Minority community because my brothers and I are part of that community. I called my parents first, we cried, I then called my brother's and said they needed to hurry because they called the election, I could hear people in the background what did she just say, did she say they called the election, my brother was like yeah she just said that, everyone hushed up and my brother was like ok tell us, who won, I only said 1 word,Obama it got loud. I was like guys you gotta hurry I can already hear the Helicopters.
