Same here, Thomas. RFK died right after my 10th birthday. It was inconceivable that another Kennedy brother could be assassinated and die only two months after MLK, and when the loss of JFK was still very raw in many people's minds (including my family's). All three men gave so much hope and meant so much to so many people. RFK's death happened at the very end of my 4th-grade school year. I was fortunate to have a teacher (and parents, too) who insisted her students closely follow, understand, and discuss current events every day. So I was keenly aware of the all the major news events that school year including civil rights, the MLK assassination, the Vietnam War and the Tet Offensive, the anti-war protests, the Pueblo incident, LBJ's decision not to run for re-election, Bobby Kennedy's campaign and the other candidates for the 1968 presidency.

Elvis Presley did a song 1968 "IF I CAN DREAM" for Bobby and DR Martin Luther King "You have just witnessed a devastated Elvis singing out his soul to honor his assassinated friends, Dr. Martin Luther King, and Senator Bobby Kennedy who was also a fierce fighter for human rights and equality. Watch the video "Elvis Presley and the Black Community" and that will give you an good idea of how Elvis fought his heart out for the innocent downtrodden.. He grew up dirt poor and hung out with African Americans who loved him as much as he loved them. He was a force for good, and it hurts to see him called a racist. RFK Jr. has stated that he does not want to fund Ukraine, and he has many controversial and conspiracies viewpoints. I do not believe he is a good Candidate, all I believe is that he will split the votes for Biden, benefiting Trump. He should have waited to at least 1976. He promised Eugene McCarthy, that if McCarthy entered the race, he would not. He was under enormous pressure to run by his supporters and succumbed to that pressure. Unfortunately, it cost him his life. Also, contrary to popular belief and what is reported in the media, if RFK wasn't assassinated, he was destined to lose the democratic nomination in Chicago to Hubert Humphrey who was way ahead in the delegate count.

Love him, perhaps even more than his brother, although both are heroes of mine. When JFK was killed I was a teenager in my native Denmark, my family and friends did what people did in the US, spend that awful weekend glued to the TV. When RFK was killed I was an au pair in Westport Ct. it was my day off, I got up late when down to the kitchen, my au pair mother was there she said "you won't believe what an awful morning it has been, Kennedy have been shot". I had been out late the night before (I was 23) and thought what is she talking about, he was shot 5 years ago. Then the awful truth hit me. Kennedy was still alive, but of course it was just a matter of time. The next night I had a date with someone I had been dating, I was in Westport Ct. he worked in New York, we were to double date with my Swedish girl friend. Her date, my girl friend and I went to the train station to pick up my date. When he got off the train it was obvious he had a few too many. We went to the local bar, and then later to a party. Years later I reflected on this curious kind of behavior, and then it hit me, that coming just a few months after the assassination of Martin Luther King, it was just too much for our 22 and 23 year old, so we pushed it aside. As Tom Hayden said, "we became a generation of what might have been".

If the Kennedy brothers were alive to witness the Supreme Court's recent actions, particularly the presidential immunity decision, they'd be sickened and immensely alarmed. The court transformed the office of President into a kingship for 1 man's benefit. Two-thirds of the court are bestowing upon Trump all ammunition required to lead as a Fascist despot. Undoubtedly the Kennedys would fight this utilizing all of their influence.

And RFK Junior wants him freed. At least most of his brothers and sisters are not bats--t crazy like him, and want Sirhan to stay right where he is. In the case of Sirhan and the Manson lunatics, 50+ years is not "enough." I am no fan of Gov. Newsom, but I am 100% behind him on this issue. Life means life.
