As an old retired Boomer no longer at the R/C fields, I just bought RF Evolution and am loving the time lost in it for hours. Your precision flying in this video, especially your ability to line up so easily with the runways is a benchmark for my goals. I can see your enthusiasm is just as prevalent as my own lol. This video may be older, but it is not the version that counts, it is the fantastic array of flight options including being able to edit your planes as custom with your desired control responses. Thank you for this demo! 👍 P.S. My old eyes also thank RFE for the binoculars. RFE is now downloaded on "Steam" which is ok but for the getting past the captcha! 😡

Thanks! Lining up on the runway can be challenging since you have a narrower field of view. But I feel like if you can line up on the runway in the sim, lining up with an actual model is a bit easier.

More recently got RF9.5 and am having a lot of fun with the Hanger and Balloon challenges in addition to flying a number of high wing trainers. I have a Sport Club S2 being delivered tomorrow. I was thinking the same as you, should be a good plane to learn on and buy a bigger plane/jet later. Just finished ordering RF9.5 w/ controller to practice and try more advance planes. Darn expensive!, especially in Canada. But I didn't want to go out with the new Cub without any experience at all, so bit the bullet on the sim even though it was 100 more than the cub s2! (any canadians happen to read this, Great Hobbies gave me 25$ off. Stay away from PM Hobbies, horrible experience with them. Eliminator-RC is also good.)
@BillKisel3 жыл бұрын
@@PickledGopher Don't be surprised if you're getting short flight times with your new S2. My flight times dropped dramatically with the cold temps here in North Central, PA. I'm assuming it is the small 1 cell LiPo batteries not liking the cold; if I run the plane inside my garage, which I keep at ~60F, I get back my normal run times. Great little plane. I've got about 200 flites on it. Early on I treeed it half a dozen times and probably crashed or hard landed it 2 dozen times. Been through several props and several motors and a dozen significant repairs and she still gets in the air. Since posting earlier I've gotten 2 second planes... The UMX Turbo Timber and the FT Simple Cub. Both are waiting for me to get a TX. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the Spektrum NX8 when it comes out - hopefully soon. Best of luck with your plane and RF simulator.

@@BillKisel Thanks Bill! Thats great to know about the temps. I'm a little worried about crashing her off the bat, good to know she'll likely survive. I haven't even had one flight yet, but already looking at the aeroscout or maybe Habu, and that A10 looks awesome! So many. Looking forward to trying them in the sim

@@PickledGopher To begin with you want to fly it in little to no wind and keep it in "Beginner" mode until you've got several dozen flites under your belt.. Fly it in a wide open area and if you can a field having tall grass. Keep the plane in front of you and you should have few problems. RF is in my opinion a great learning tool. The Hanger Challenge 1 I believe uses the HZ Sport Cub in beginner mode and playing it will be a great help for when you go to fly the real model. Have fun!

Burning question here: The old chrome-black InterLink controller offered mode 2, but didn't restrict throttle travel. Why must the new "InterLink DX" charcoal-colored controller do this? Limiting the travel of a resistive potentiometer/ADC->Digital data based controller is pointless. It only limits the level of fine control a human-interface-device is capable of. Having checked the inside of this new "DX" controller, the limitation is purely mechanical, and purely pointless. I'd really like an answer to this question.

I'm surpised no-one's mentioned how difficult this s/w is to install. In fact it won't install unless you disable any anti virus s/w you have running. And then, when you allow the antivirus back on it immediately stops the RF Launcher from working. You CAN run the actual simuulator but without the lLauncher window, there's no way you can either run updates or get different aeroplanes. It truly is a dreadful piece of s/w and I expect a lot more for something I paid over £100 for here in the UK. Once the simulator is running, the physics are fine but the range of models is limited primarily to the ARTFs Horizon Hobby sell and they're not even sorted into categories. I intend to pursue a refund. It's very disappointing.

F-16 is accurate

Yup, I found it to be quite excellent. Only thing I noticed was getting it into the high alpha was more tricky in the sim. Maybe playing with the cg in the sim might get that aspect a bit closer.

How realistic is it with three D flying training ?Hovering and harriers etc.

I’m terrible at 3d, but it has a number of built in airplane options for that. They appear to be quite good from what I can tell.

They are pretty good. It helps with muscle memory. Not so much with IMAC but it helps to memorize the sequence. This sim is better for 3D/Freestyle in my opinion.

The best 3D pilot in the world, Jase Dussia, uses RealFlight almost daily to hone his skills, practice new maneuvers, routines, etc. Hear from Jase why RealFlight is such an amazing tool for learning to fly and to become a better pilot/3D pilot in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2eXh3monpJopKs&t= Then watch Jase fly in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKmVYoqYfqZ9qK8

Mighty expensive for the technology used. MS Flight Simulator is decades ahead of this product in terms of quality and graphics. And I dislike MS corp to begin with.... I guess this is a niche market, therefore, it is cheaper than crashing a pricey model. Coke or Pepsi, I take Coke.

Wow, the most expensive video game ever. Smh
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
I understand. In all fairness though, it’s intended as a simulator for training and it’s very good at that. Consider, if you crash once in the sim while learning to fly rc, it has essentially paid for itself by saving you the expense of an actual crashed airplane.
