I had an advance promo cassette tape from my source at CEMA, aka Capitol Records, at the time. I was working at the much missed Titus Oaks CD and Record Exchange in Hicksville, New York, on Long Island in 1990. I’m not sure how long before Empire’s official release date l had the full advance cassette, but I’m guessing it was no more than a month or two… at the most.
