A few things that were overlooked: First, some legend has been updating the wiki so if you are confused check that and if needed ask anyone with a stem major to explain it. Second, overkill AP has a niche use in reducing reflections on shots that can't destroy the first block, and angles that are not too steep (or always for sabot). Lastly, this test ignored a common way to convert potential damage (kinetic damage) into reliable damage (armor pierce). The speed of the shell is the square root of the energy(gunpowder or rail) used to propel it but speed linearly increases both damage and AP so 2x energy = 2x damage times ap. So energy = effective damage. When make the shell longer (add volume) you convert some AP into kinetic damage to where damage times AP remains constant (when shell is made of same stuff). Conversely reducing shell length turns AP into damage. However when the shell length increases, its speed decreases but its health increases so changing shell length is is always an equal trade. However, sabot parts and AP heads have inherently more damage times AP than heavy heads and solid bodies but can either overkill AP or (after changing the shell length) will be much slower. To sum up, if AP is too high add / swap to more solid, chemical, or smoke bodies (depending on head) and when AP is too low, add sabot bodies or shorten the shell (never below 3 times the gauge though). When speed is to low add more energy or shorten shell, when too high add chemical shells. When damage is too low, need more dakka. Hope this helps, if anyone has any questions, please ask.

Hey long time no see mate welcome back to the comment section! Overkill ap only matters if the shell can't destroy the block right? Good to know how speed is calculated. I know the mechanism of tuning the shell to do what I want while I'm not the best tuner.

@@GMODISM Yes only when it does not destroy the first block and the angle is not too steep or flat, (so only small caliber sabot will make use of this)

I am curious how the shell length relates in terms of cost for the gun itself for equal DPM. Seeing as a longer shell will do more damage, but require more in terms of cooling and autoloaders and recoil absorption (depending on # of modules relating to each), does length of shell also scale linearly in terms of cost to damage per minute? Assuming the same guage, whatever that may be. For the same cost of gun, the shell length will make for a higher RPM with shorter shells, but less damage per shell- I'm not sure the type of scaling it goes by, though. When flipped, though, going for the same RPM based on the same shell structure (just more/less modules of that structure), is the cost of the gun to keep the same RPM as a short shell linear with a longer shell, or is it more efficient, or less efficient, for the theoretical dpm provided? It's safe to assume shell damage optimization at each shell length for an expected result, like stacked metal beams.

I like the heavy head. They scale up well to. At 500 gauge they deal way more damage. Add some rail and you have a party.

@@GMODISM If I remember right it's like 47K+ from a 500mm with 40k rail. I use it on my big boy Meg killer with the death ray.

some sources sayin damage calculation is shell damage*(ap/2ac), is that old system or what? because if it is true we can get benefit until we double opponent ac. i made my CIWS according to that info, (40.2 ap) can they do exact same damage with 20 ap?

At around 19:30 you mention sabot bodies vs HA and then say it's not really worth it but your APxKD goes up a fair bit and you hadn't overshot the AP vs AC yet...

Against surface HA it's smart with Sabot, especially if the shell cant destroy the 4m beam in one shot we might as well overshoot AP to not get deflected, but in general too much kinetic damage can be deducted when using Sabot, so depends a lot on scenario I'd say

Well big hollow point is pretty good for stripping chunks of armour from the outside, something hesh can't do

How do you determine how far an ap shell will penetrate. Also why does it sometimes just go through the block without destroying it

That should not happen, penetration can be measured by just trying the shots on some armour
