This is General Bobby of the Grey Talons. The onslaught has begun once again. Today, he took down a lot of our dreadnoughts, and even captured one! His cheap little hover tanks and nuke-producers are small but appear in great numbers, just like half of the Deepwater Guard's old fleet, not that they have one anymore. Heck, all that's left of them is their old fortress and a few now Legion-controlled pirate ships. Speaking of fortresses, ours was located just a day into the war, suggesting that the Grey Talons will fall quickly to the Legion, just like my dear Lightning Hoods. How I hope that is not so. He also captured a resource zone and put another petty altar there to start harvesting it's rescource. Even worse, we were going to build a fortress there tomorrow! That's just so frustrating. What worries me is that the Scarlet Dawn will be allied with the Legion after this war is over, which is a very scary thought. I mean, the two most powerful factions of Neter being allied!?! They will have to sacrifice their friendship with the Onyx Watch, but it will give them a powerful and scary ally, that will donate their technology to the Legion! If this alliance happens, the remaining factions of Neter don't stand a chance. The Legion also has another name: The Blood Guard. It was just a name that a few people came up with, but then, it just caught on like all these stupid trends that have been going on recently. Now, the Legion is called the "Blood Guard" more than it's called "The Legion." Even government officials have caught on to the name! So if anyone is reading this, could you tell me if I should start calling the Legion the "Blood Guard," or should I just keep calling it the Legion. Personally, I like saying "The Legion" better, but, I just want these logs to be a part of history. Also, I rarely ever touch the ground anymore. The Talons are freaks about the air, and every time I mentioned the word "ground" they would go crazy and I would have to remind them that I'm a Lightning Hoods native. I also talked to them about, if we win this war, if they would be allies with the Hoods, if they are rebuilt. They said that they had no reason not to, and the only reason they disliked us before was because we were enemies with the Steel Striders, who the Talons were allied with back in the day. Also, I have a new airship that I take for a fly a lot, and it's very relaxing, but it's not an airship just for flying around. It's a devastating warship that will make you tense with fear when you hear it's name: The Extinction. This is General Bobby of the Grey Talons, signing off.

personal log #2: My previous concerns about the Blood guard being unprepared to fight the Grey talons were thankfully wrong, the Blood guard deployed a new prototype of cheap hover tanks that could be mass produced while still being effective along with previously captured white flayers dreadnoughts and even our three last remaining nuclear warheads which are no longer allowed to be manufactured, we were able to capture two resource zones of strategic importance and even capture one of the "Kobold" class gunship, by the dark ones ! such a miracle of engineering now in our hands ! it will serve Khorne very well and spill a lot of blood I'm sure of it. The Grey talons fortress is within the range of our sattelite radars, however i am worried of our current stock of resources, we lost both of the White flayers ships and we've been simply lucky as the only real threatening ship we faced was alone and got destroyed by the nukes, I feel like the grey talons are soon going to point their bigger guns toward us. This evening something really strange and worrying happened, I was negotiating with one of the Onyx watch ambassadors on the newly converted White flayers HQ, and all of a sudden a red unidentified flying craft started hovering above the fortress, the defensive turrets immediately started firing at the unknown ship however it did not fire back at us and all the shells got deflected by it's shields, and suddenly a distorted voice starts saying the following: "We have been watching you and we have high hopes you will help us spread the new dawn, a Scarlet dawn !", after that the ship warped away. Damn it ! the Onyx watch and all of the allies of the grey talons are on the brink of war with the Blood guard and now they will think we are friends with those Scarlet dawn invaders ? No. I can't let it happen, the ambassador with whom I was negociating saw too much, I knew what to do, I pulled my revolver out and shot him then ordered his escorting fleet to be shot down by the fortress's defences, i will cover up his death as an awful accident during a storm, the Onyx watch shall not know about what happened nor about our relation with the Scarlet dawn. Journal entry 21: The Blood Guard continue their march on the sky tribes, taking two resource zones as well as inflicting heavy losses to the Talons, claiming their Kobold artillery zeppelin and downing the Lazarus carrier, destroying lesser forces along the way. The Blood Guard have shifted from a war of attrition to blitzkrieg tactics, attracting the attention of the Scarlet Dawn. The two most powerful factions of Neter likely to unite is quite a scary thought, though they are likely to fight as the Lathrixians have demonstrated in the past with their thirst of power and domination. The Watch are getting suspicious of the Blood Guard with their crafts steamrolling the Talons, for now. While I aren't a professional at relations and diplomacy, I can still guarantee a improvement of our relations with the Guard if they decide after the impending destruction of the Raven's Nest to "back-stab" the Striders or the Twins or both. Their destruction would mean our trade routes would be safe again and our economy would sky-rocket, with the resource zones of our former enemies shared between us and the Guard. You *what.* You love the guard or you hate them apparently. I've made a map of the relations. Deepwater Guard - Dead Hoods - Also dead. Onyx Watch - Allied, very close friends. The Steel Striders are currently on a good relation with The Blood Guard, and has a seat on their council. Of course, with those idiotically improving relations, so do the Dawn. In other news, the public is now in distress of being shut down by the Guard in one swoop, similar to the Hoods. The public is confident in the military, but not the government. If the blood guard doesn't pierce the Striders and destroy it with military might, it'll be destroyed anyway by it's own people. The Striders are on the verge of collapse. Riots have started, and it's a new age for the Steel Striders. What's causing all this destructive distress? Mental games. The Blood Lord, otherwise known as Latrhix has began full-public speeches. With the taken down White Flayer base, a podium came with it. Lathrix immediately took advantage of it, and is making speeches, sometimes to an invisible audience, sometimes to an existent one. Don't worry about the subs, the GT should have sonar buoys meaning they can detect subs. The problem comes when the nukes come in they just wreck everything and are almost impossible to counter. If a nuke hadn't hit the Kolbold right away it has extreme speed inertial frag shells that does extremely well versus high speed opponents. IIRC the Bloodthirster doesn't have multi-layer shields meaning inertial frag would go right through. I would love to see it in a straight up fight without nukes. The Kolbold doesn't have a fuel injected engine meaning you will probably be able handle the fuel cost.

Ha ha, the Odyssey's sub-spawn come with altitude matching systems, so they are made to smash into you! Beware the tribe of the Rusted Ram! Going to warn you that the Raven's Nest is currently spawned way too low, so it will look odd.

I should also note that several Rusted Ram ships draw heavy inspiration from WH40K Imperium vessels, so if they seem familiar at all that would be why. Too bad the Kobold didn't get the chance to show you all of its pretty explosions, as you were too busy sharing yours. I guess that's what we get for having such a major design eschew any kind of point defense. The creator did say he wanted flanking to serve as a major weakness for it though.

Dread, Neekap, and the rest of the crew are masters of aesthetics. Another fun bit little bit of history about the Rusted Ram, all of their designs used to be required to use cattle prod fronts, which made them too homogeneous. It took an actual WH40K replica from a tournament that was then heavily modified to break that convention, and from there a "bronze bow" style emerged. Also the reason for the cattle prods is a superstitious belief in a mighty bull god that supposedly once ravaged their tribe before the age of ascension.

We have went to war with Khorne, they have taken out the edges of our land, we have heard bad news from our allies that they had a large airship called the "bloodthirster" hopefully our forces can rip it to shreds. What you need is a drone like the khorne flakes but heavier armoured but still quite cheap so you can launch them into the enemy and do some damage even If quite small and then send in the big guns to tear the enemies apart and lose a small amount. they could be equipped with advanced cannons (I don't think you will be putting cram cannons on a small vehicle), missiles, particle cannons, missiles and/or mines (we haven't seen a bomber in a while). Just an idea I came up with. What you could also have is a support vehicle, maybe swarm missiles, an extremely fast firing gun(s) and fast moving so it cant be touched.

Lathrix, your designs and your values when it comes to this game are admirable. You are very careful to make battles interesting and fun and not to cheese the enemy, which I am very thankful of. I feel as though my designs are relatively aesthetically pleasing but my gunnery (particularly advanced cannons) are absolutely rubbish. I recently made a giant CRAM cannon using a mixture of hardener and HE warheads with a penetration depth fuse that was able to crack battleships in half, but the turn speed of the turret and the bullet velocity was so lack-luster the whole design was very disappointing when compared to yours. Anyway, if you have any tips when it comes to making an effective Adv. cannon that would be greatly appreciated.

once you do take out the grey talons take out and try capturing all leaderless enemies you can, use the captured ships to repair larger captured ships, that way you can have a huge mixed fleet when you need it.

Scouts Log #17 Watching the Blood guard for a few weeks now, High command said that this new faction proved to be... more that capable, don't know what they meant by that at first, but it looks like that was a huge understatement to say the least. The tactics they use are questionable at most, but their sheer effectiveness overshadows their methods. The vehicle designs I've seen have blown expectations out the window; small, cheap hover tanks that can swarm the enemy with a decent turret, a extremely large flyer with a massive laser and even some re-purposed vehicles used by that cult they wiped out. @@hardboiled_cat I now look back at that comment from two years ago, and it was unkind and immature of me to say that. As a Canadian, I can say that it wasn't very Canadian of me. I would like to apologize to BobsGuns for the rude remark. I was under a lot of stress back then, and I still am. There's nothing wrong with seeing humour in these things, and I have grown to no longer make judgmental comments online, or at least I hope I have. I will make sure to comment more carefully and respectfully in the future. Thank you for bringing my attention back to this old comment so I can apologize for it. If you hadn't replied to me, I never would have come back to make amends, simply due to not remembering that I said that. We're all trying to have fun here, and in these difficult days, we have to find amusement in whatever we can. So, to end off this comment, I will follow the trend of this thread. That feeling when you realize you were a jerk 2 years ago.

The reason the Grey Talons have a variety of designs is because they're a group of nomadic clans, each with a different design philosophy. And that's why a lot of the ships you've faced look like WH40K ships. The Odyssey and Pike in particular.
