Anyone else like this could be useful for a stealth update? like the newest US destroyers have a funky shape for the sake of not being detected easily, so this could be used instead of making your turrets have funky shapes
@MarterElectronics3 жыл бұрын
Radar stealth is already in the game. Some materials are easier to be detected than others. I think rubber had the tiniest amount of detection. The moment you pull out your guns, you become detected.
@rafaelsousa53 жыл бұрын
@@MarterElectronics Realistically it only works well on subs and even then it's very minimal, since they have the advantage of being underwater and having very limited ways of being detected, but otherwise there is no benefit for replacing your vehicle's outer layer with rubber (the go to material for lower detection values) enemy will still be able to reliably hit you so it's a very bad idea to reduce your armor, even if it's just a metal outer layer, shooting also has barely any effect on overall detection in the case of subs since they mostly use missiles and torpedoes which can be done to fit the shape of the hull, and even 1 or 2 guns will be a small portion of the overall craft. Just remember that if you do it you still need armor, it makes your enemy have poor accuracy but doesn't mean you won't get shot, it's not a form of active protection, it won't block enemy firepower. "like the newest US destroyers have a funky shape for the sake of not being detected easily" That also already exists, different shapes give different detection values, the bigger the angle of your armor the harder to detect, and the more flat it is the easier to detection, profile also, something tall, wide and thin will be easy to detect from the front and back but hard to detect from the sides and top/bottom.

Only if you aren't shooting them. I don't think breadboards have conditions for a specific local weapon controller not having a valid target to even hide them when their preferred target isn't around. Maybe in LUA, but I wouldn't know what's available there. But in practical use with just ACBs: No. You'd only be able to do that if you manually hid the guns one by one and in doing so prevented them from shooting. Cool RP idea but it'd rarely be seen in combat.

@themecoptera92583 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. You can use things like rubber and alloys to reduce the detection range of radar, but it doesn’t help against visual trackers so it doesn’t really make you stealthy so much as slightly difficult to hit for anyone using radar principally. The thing that works best is small rubber coated submarines with ion drives as they can be very difficult to accurately target as only active sonar works and that gets reduced by the rubber coating. Well designed ones can even avoid torpedo detection.
