So pretty!😁 I love rusty orange colors. For me, I love using items to inspire crochet items. I use my Alaska calendar for mine. Loved watching!💜

I have watched all your videos. I am coming to dyeing wool yarn from dyeing cotton so you have inspired me and given me the confidence to make the jump. I have loved the last two videos of you working with your husband from his creations, the photos, to your joint creations, the yarn. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Thank you so much for watching. I think you will find dyeing protein fibres a bit easier the cotton, a lot less washing and excess dye.

I’m loving these videos! Your husband was hesitant in the first video and seeing how his confidence has grown in this video, is just so cute! You’re such a great teacher and this colourway is awesome! Now to try and get my husband involved hahah - I think he’s hiding 😂

So inspiring! Love listening to you two work it out together. My husband just tries to stay out of the way when I’m dyeing and my dogs just aren’t helpful when I ask their options.😆

Thank you again for another wonderful video. I visited your website and I was so excited to see you had link with a lot of vintage cars you used as inspiration to dye yarn. Simply amazing. Thank you for sharing how you find inspiration in pictures and how you pull the colors together. Thanks to you. I finally felt confident enough tried dying some yarn. I tried to speckle it 😬. I used various colors. But wayyy. Too much water. So it did not speckle it dyed it lol. And I have to say. It came out beautiful! Thank you for encouraging me to try dyeing yarn and letting me know it’s ok to make mistakes. This was a wonderful dye mistake. The colors meshed together so good. I did want you suggested and wrote down the colors I used and the order the dye was applied,the amount of water and the technique. I was so happy I wrote it down. I ended up dying 2 more skeins using my recipe ( feels good to say that , my recipe) 😄 and they matched the first skein perfectly. Now I am making a shawl out of it and it is so satisfying to see something I dyed become a garment. I haven’t started watching this video yet. I have to put my jammies on and get ready. BRB. Thanks again. 🌹🧶

Once again I applaud your video. I love this theme, this "series", and the fact that your husband is involved and learning along the way. Being a long time viewer, I appreciate slowing down the pace, giving the viewer time to discover our own thoughts about color exploration along the way. In just 2 videos, I have refined my own use of layering colors as well as seeing hidden colors pop out in photos. Thanks so much to the both of you.

Woah!!!! That turned out really really cool!! I wasn’t expecting the finished colorway to look that way. It can look so different wet and in the pan. I love what that photo turned into on yarn. Well done to your husband! His first colorways (with your help and guidance) are gorgeous

It's true, you don't get a real sense of how the colour turned out until it's washed and dried. We were so pleased with the final result. I hope to do more collabs with my husband, it was fun.

I'm having the worse time trying to use an olive dye. (not dharma). It keeps going orange or brown. pH needs to be at 4 and I have that. It's perfect in the pan with acid and warm water. Then I turn up the heat and when I come back the browns either overwhelm any greens or this last time I tried adding chartreuse, had perfect olive in the pan, cooked it and it was all gold. I am dyeing roving... Gone through more than a pound now and still major failures. If I keep going, I eventually am ending up with overcooked felted roving. All I can do is watch your awesome videos and drool over how great the dyes do in your process.

It's all trial and error. It's taken me time to learn how each of the dyes I use behaves with different fibres. Keep trying you will eventually get the results your looking for.

This was sooooo helpful! Thank you so much for sharing how to look at a photo and transfer it to yarn. And, a question, when you flip the yarn I'm thinking that additional citric acid needs to be added? And would it be the same amount as used on the 1st side? So glad to see a couple who enjoy each other! ...Deb

Thank you for watching. I'm glad you found it helpful. I usually don't add any more acid. Some colours I dye are very saturated with many layers of application so I may add a bit more acid near the end if it seems like the colour is having trouble exhausting.

Hi I have learned so much by watching your videos, I'm new to dyeing fiber in the last 7 mo. I still don't get my fiber to dye in a deep red doing the presoak with vinegar or citrate acide and have a few name brand acide dye powders and heating on a double broiler pan system on the stove what are your thoughts...Help!
@EssenceofAutumnYarn3 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you're trying to get a solid red colour? You can watch my videos on dyeing solids. I would say presoaking your yarn in acid could be part of the problem. When I dye solids I don't add acid to the yarn until after the dye is in the pan and I don't add a lot of acid. The videos linked will explain my process. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGKkfphshJuIrdE kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4nWloChjquNi8k
