From The Dye Studio EP 29 - Art Collectors Yarn Club 1

Hi everyone. I'm always looking for ways to improve and expand the hand dyed yarn I offer on my online shop. Earlier this year I tried something new to me and introduced yarn clubs. The colour inspiration for the clubs is artists and artwork that I admire. In this video you will see me working on the very first yarn club and I will share some info about the artist who inspired this collection of colours. Also I will talk about some challenges I experienced in trying out a new idea.

I love that you show the colors I have never been comfy buying mystery dyed yarn. My step mom is a wildlife artist her name is Nancy glazier. And she paints very detailed and true to life with her right handed work. And then she decided to start painting with her left hand and it completely changed her art to be broader strokes and brighter colors some of her left handed paintings of horses are my favorite “primary colors” and “carousel horses II” “leap of faith” All of her paintings are amazing but the color of those left hand paintings of horses are my favorite She had a stroke and is building her strength back. She loves art and color so much and she actually gave me her two spinning wheels and loves to see all the knitting and spinning I do. She is always so supportive of my crafting. Such beautiful yarn. You knocked this club out of the park I Can’t wait to see your future clubs

You nailed the colours! Same with the 2nd one. Really can't wait for #3. You have such a knack and are one of only two dyers in which I would partake in a year long mystery club. Hopefully the mystery of it gains a little bit more traction for future year mysteries.

I love your colors!! Your videos are amazing and extremely relaxing... I think yarn inspired by art is amazing, some nail it, some don't... These definitely did!! I'm sorry I missed your clubs. Im surprised to see you cut the ties, I like them on just in case my yarn unhanks before I use it, less chance of a tangle. (yup, been there). 😉 Kitchen sink is my favorite!!

Hi there, as a new dyer myself, I've enjoyed your videos so much. Thank you for sharing! This is a lovely idea to showcase Canadian artists and use their work for inspiration and you've done a beautiful job doing so. I think many would enjoy a mystery club like this. Another option is to offer it as either a mystery or a revealed club and let the buyer choose. I wonder if the soft response to the art club is more a function of your website. I could not find this club browsing the website but instead had to search for it. I would not have known about it had I not watched this video first. Also, I'm confused about the timing of the club yarn releases. Are they all 2024? And is Club 1 no longer available? TIA

Thanks for your suggestions. Club 1 & 2 are finished and I'm not sure if I will be able to do the other ones I planned for the year because of some recent changes in my life (nothing serious). I'll have to see how things work out.

I've loved scrolling through all the different colour ways you produce- there are so many beauties! A few days ago i actually uploaded some photos to Instagram of the first skeins I dyed. I thanked you personally on there too because you are one of 2 people who I have learnt so much from. Watching your KZbin tutorials has been incredible. Usually I am one to just jump in as I'm impatient to start but with yarn dyeing you really need to know some fundamental basics beforehand. I'm so glad I waited & watched & took notes. I hope the first batch were not just beginners luck as there have been some pretty hideous ones lately! 😂 I think my trouble is trying to chuck too many colours on & that just makes things muddy.
