Watching your vids from the dye studio is as calming as watching Bob Ross painting. I love to watch your videos during less creative job task to bring same color and love into the day. Thank you a lot and keep up the good work.

Hi Sheryl, if you laid your inspiration photo next to the tray (in plastic) we could see what you’re going for color wise. Beautiful colors. Thank you.

Such beautiful yarn! I love how, after you added a bit of fuchsia to the mostly greens yarn, it looked kind of like a pan of long stemmed roses.

Thank you. You're right about it looking like roses.

How different we all are, dyers. My point of view is not the same as yours, but I love your style and talent. What fun jobs we have, unless we are too tired to even crawl into bed. LOL

Loved seeing you work! I’m always amazed to see the nearly clear water when the yarn is flipped. I’m glad you talked about the grey color forming between the shades. I’m curious how neutrals & browns act in dyes - I’m looking forward to doing some experiments of my own.

I loved watching your process but I have difficulty imagining what the yarn would look like knitted. Do you ever show examples of this?
@EssenceofAutumnYarn2 жыл бұрын
I don't know what most of my colours look like knit up either. Right now I rely on my customers to send my photos of their projects. I do have a knitting machine that I purchased mainly for knitting colour samples but I haven't had time to even unbox it yet. When I do find the time to learn how to use it I will be making swatches of all my colours. Hopefully this will be in the not too distant future.

I’m so glad you’re back. I checked constantly to see if you had a new video. You never seem to end up with muddy colors. Your videos are interesting and soothing at the same time. What does it mean when colors “crash”?
@EssenceofAutumnYarn2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching my videos. It makes me feel good that you are eager for them. Hopefully I didn't say crash, I meant clash meaning that the colours may be unpleasant or hard to look at because they don't seem to look good together. This of course is subjective because everyone has different tastes when it comes to colour.

Hi- I’m a hobby dyer and was wondering if there was any citric acid in the water prior to adding the dyes or did you add it after? Thx so much 😊

Yes citric acid was already added.

This colour combination is beautiful. Well actually - all your colour choices are beautiful. I'm a new dyer and wondered if you measured the total amount of dye in all the colours used, based on the weight of yarn in your pan? Or do you just apply the various dye stock colours until all the yarn is covered?
@EssenceofAutumnYarn Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the lovely compliment. I have recipes that I follow and depending on the colour or dye technique I sometimes measure the dye or just eyeball it until I get the desired result. I've been dyeing my colours long enough that I can be a bit more instinctual in my dye application.

Can I put these pans in my home oven? And what temp ? How long?
@EssenceofAutumnYarn2 жыл бұрын
The pans are meant for cooking so yes they are fine in an oven. The dye manufacturer will have recommendations on the ideal temperature and amount of time needed to set the dye.

How long did it take for you to understand Color Theory?
@EssenceofAutumnYarn2 жыл бұрын
Colour is a science and I will never fully understand it. I'm still learning so much and will continue too which is exciting because there will always be something new to explore when it comes to colour.

Love the new colour combinations. It is fun to watch your inspirations come to life. Do you knit a swatch to see how they work in a project?
