How easy are the wings to pop off for transport?
@Thercgeek2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's kind of a pain out of the box because all of the wires get routed through the fuselage from the wing to the receiver. To make it easier, I'd recommend using some combination connectors/extensions so that it ends up only being 1 or 2 plugs required when connecting the wings.
@easystar1234 жыл бұрын
Absolutely great flying. You are such a good pilot, I really enjoyed watching this. I'm thinking of get this plane or the freewing venom v2. I've never had a jet before and I'm flying over 34 years. Most of my planes are ic powered warbirds. I like the looks of the me 262 better but I also like the sound of the venom. Which would you recommend as a first edf jet? Thanks.
@Thercgeek4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Given the two, I’d recommend the 262. The venom has a pretty nasty tip stall tendency based on my friend who has one. It’s cool and he loves flying it, but that is something that could rear its head on landings if you get it too slow.

Hey Chris, awesome review as usual! I just ordered one and should have it next week. Question: Did the original Me262 have navigation or landing lights? I can't tell one way or another from photos and videos I've looked through. I assume it must have had them. By any chance are they included on the Freewing V2? Would be great if it does but I guess it wouldn't be too terribly difficult to add them.

@@Thercgeek WOW, WHAT A NICE LOOKING PLANE THANKS CHRIS, ANSWERED MY QUESTION ABOUT THE NOSE. CARBON RODS SOUND LIKE A GOOD IDEA. I'M THINKING ABOUT GETTING ONE. I WILL BE TAKING THE WING OFF FOR TRAVELING TO THE FIELD. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO MAYBE SIMPLIFY THE WIRING SET-UP. IT'S REALLY NOT A BIG DEAL I JUST WOULD LIKE IT SIMPLER. I WONDERED ABOUT THE FLIGHT TIME. I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY A 6000 mah, THEN YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON I SAW USING A 7000. LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE IT BACK A BIT, MOST SEEM TO HAVE THEIR 5000s ALL THE WAY FORWARD. THAT MAKES A 7000 BACK FURTHER SEEM TAIL HEAVY.?!. GREAT VIDEO, AS USUAL!
@Thercgeek4 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyg3681 Thanks! The 7000 needs to be further back for the same CG location because it's a heavier pack. I could see a lighter 5000 needing to be all the way forward. I only flew this one with 5800s, 6250s, and the 7000s. I've heard about folks reinforcing the nose, but I didn't do that to mine. If you're flying off of grass, might be a good idea. On the wiring, there are some multi connectors that you could use that'll put the multiple plugs into only 1 or 2 plugs at the airplane. That would be the simplest thing I would think, but would take a bit of soldering to accomplish.
@johnnyg36814 жыл бұрын
@@Thercgeek THANKS CHRIS. YOU'RE A REAL HELP. YES, I GET IT WITH THE 7000 BACK, IT'S HEAVIER. MAKES SENSE. I'LL TAKE A LOOK TO SEE IF USING A WIRING HARNESS TO REDUCE IT TO ONE OR TWO CONNECTIONS MIGHT WORK.

If you throttle back, it’ll do ok. I flew mine with a 5800 and it generally went pretty quick. But, I also like to keep the airplane cruising at a decent clip of speed. A 6250 is a great compromise between the two.

@davidgerlach113211 ай бұрын
Nice! I beg to disagree, not extremely nerdy at all. I'm a professor of applied mathematics, so this is glorified arithmetic in and aerodynamic setting. Idealize until you're blue in the face, but it's still a "number"🙂 I hope I've lifted your ideals... An aircraft's lift capabilities can be measured from the following formula: L = (1/2) d v2 s CL L = Lift, which must equal the airplane's weight in pounds d = density of the air. This will change due to altitude. These values can be found in a I.C.A.O. Standard Atmosphere Table. v = velocity of an aircraft expressed in feet per second s = the wing area of an aircraft in square feet CL = Coefficient of lift, which is determined by the type of airfoil and angle of attack. -- In closing, the angle of attack and CL are related and can be found using its Velocity Relationship. 🙂

Right at 6:19 I see it wobble after a bank into a semi knife edge.
@Thercgeek5 жыл бұрын
ah, ok, thanks for pointing that out. So, that was me trying to get it locked into the knife edge. The airplane will knife edge exceptionally well actually, but I didn't quite have the inputs correct at the entry to counter the small amount of coupling that there is. So, you're seeing me adjust the inputs...a little too agressively.
@grabir015 жыл бұрын
@@Thercgeek got ya. There were a couple of other places where I could see it wobble slightly . Being a new plane and first flight getting used to controls could be part of it. I have never owned or flown a foamy so I was wonder about the stiffness of the foam if that was causing the wobble under stress.
@Thercgeek5 жыл бұрын
Sure, it's a fair question. In my mind, this airplane is sufficiently stiff and there's not any in flight interaction that I've noted, even when it's windy and bumpy. I have seen that with some other airframes, but not many.
