FAA's From the Flight Deck video series uses cockpit mounted cameras to capture runway and taxiway footage and combines them with diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items. Learn more at www.faa.gov/go/FromTheFlightDeck
Wrong Surface operations are a serious and continuing issue at airports throughout the National Airspace System (NAS). The majority of these incidents involve general aviation aircraft and pilots. This video focuses on wrong direction intersection takeoffs, describing the risks associated with them, and demonstrating various strategies and tips that will help pilots avoid these situations.
It's better to 'know before you go' - FAA's From the Flight Deck video series is available exclusively on KZbin. Subscribe to this channel to watch actual approach and taxi footage from airports across the U.S., or visit www.faa.gov/go/FromTheFlightDeck for a map of all 30 locations.
These videos are intended to assist pilots in navigating complex taxiway and runway configurations ahead of actual flight operations. Cockpit and wing mounted GoPro cameras were used to capture 4K resolution video and combined with airport diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items that pilots may encounter.
This video is informational only and does not replace the pilot’s responsibility to conduct required pre-flight planning in accordance with FAR 91.103.

FAA loves to provide service to our air crew, I think that’s one of the reasons why FAA master the global aviation industry

In america and in the UK atc has to state when lining up the acft which intersection the pilots are entering the rwy from. But in Europe and in other countries it s not mandatory as there is.I don t know how pilots don t know where they are standing, they have signs, charts, situational awarness looking out from the windshield, and especially most of them have RAAS,i mean, why would that be atc responsibility, when they have their own problems the need to care about, this is considered to be pilots domain

When are you going to apologise to Bruce in NZ for stealing his footage?

An apology would have been free, but re-editing the entire video cost many $. Funny thing as a tax payer I can hardly agree with this choice of action.

If one’s situation awareness is so deficient they are unaware of which runway they’re departing even in the presence of signage and the compass in front of their eyes, they should no longer be a pilot.

Sounds like you forgot what its like to be a student pilot

Dalan Angelo If you’re flying solo or otherwise qualified to act as PIC, you should know how to read pavement markings and directional/location signage, there’s absolutely no excuse for a wrong direction takeoff regardless of experience level, it’s literally something only a professional-grade dumbass could accomplish.

No, it’s extremely easy to get overwhelmed. It seems like you were never a student pilot to make such a claim.

Cade Norris nope I’m a CFI, multiengine commercial, instrument and soon-to-be ATP, I guess I’ve just always paid attention and took my time. Quit making excuses for morons, a “mistake” as a student pilot is miscalculating time enroute or overestimating fuel consumption, and a rough landing here and there, NOT taking off in the wrong direction. There are some things that should just absolutely never happen and never will if you open your eyes and think before you act.

How much of this footage is stolen without the GA pilots knowing? Seems you like to only take from the Model Aviation community.
