I'd like to see something about bimetal, tungsten, and carbide saw blades. I'm wondering if they last longer between sharpening to make them a better deal even if you don't need their nail and fence wire cutting capabilities.

Should you adjust the tension if say you cut all day long and it appears that the blade may have stretched a little? Do they stretch?

I had some challenges this winter cutting some hard ash logs. First problem was the 7/8 pitch blades. Not suitable for the ash I found out by calling the factory. Thanks Trevor for the basic primer on the pitch to use in hardwoods. Blade tension was one of the key problems but tracking caused problems with blades shifting position on the wheels, compressing the teeth and losing the set , then diving into the logs and jumping off the wheels. I could use some solid information on how to handle the tracking issue. It goes hand in hand with tensioning, and setting the guides. I have an LM 29.

On my LM29 I turn all the way in and back off 1/2 turn and it comes out to right where you are. Tracks true and doesn't wander. Works for me.

When leaving the mill sit for extended period of time, should i loosen the blade tension ? I have been doing that, does it help blade life?
@NorwoodsawmillsDirect3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely Ernie. That information is in your owner's manual. There are a number of storage tips/instructions we include in there.

Trevor can any of the new upgrades on the lm30 fit on the lm29 like the plastic guards
@NorwoodsawmillsDirect3 жыл бұрын
The guards are not cross-compatible between models. However, basically all LM30 optional attachments works on the LM29.

I have been tensioning the blade on my HD 4.5 turns cause the instructions that came with mill said to do that. So I should be going up to 6.5 turns?
@devlinsemmler82363 жыл бұрын
6.5 from contact to spring. You can go by feel too once you notice it. You'll feel it suddenly get harder when it bottoms out. You definitely want to be maxed on your tension though for nice cuts.

Hey Trevor, thanks for the awesome videos. My OS 31 keeps throwing blades. I'm meticulous about tracking and blade tension. Tried replacing the belts and it got worse. Called into customer service a week ago and have yet to hear from a tech. Please help.

How do you know when blades need to be sharpened?
@NorwoodsawmillsDirect3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. A few things. You can feel a bit more resistance when you guide the carriage through the cut. Blade can begin to deviate but then it is really dull.
