I think Denmark has the same thing going that was happening in Finland before Cicciolina. The really popular and cool performers didn't want to have anything to do with ESC. If you took part in UMK it was seen a bit embarrassing., basically meant that you're washed-out and you have lost your base. Erika changed it all by rebranding herself in a really cool way. All of a sudden other musicians started seeing the potential as Erika gained a lot of success from all the exposure she got from UMK. So I just think they have to get one great entry in that will succeed and the others will come. Just like Ireland. I don't think Bobbi Arlo would've taken part in Eurosong without Bambi.

Hey Gabe. Really like these streams but just wanted to give some feedback: I completely understand why you'd want to stop and say thank you to the Twitch subscribers and stuff but it does get rather annoying when you stop in mid-sentence to say thank you to [NAME] for subscribing to then go off on a tangent before returning to your initial sentence and then stop in mid-sentence again to say thank you to subscribers. There were a few instances where it would take close to 10 minutes to make a point. Not having a go and I love the videos but just wanted to say that feedback in the nicest way possible :)

I should point out that Tulia didn't qualify because of the juries. They were 8th in televote, so Tautumeitas definitely has a chance to qualify if we're gonna use that comparison. Tautumeitas also delivers a stronger staging concept.

Ahh... I hated the staging of Made Of. The background was weird and distracting. And Goldielocks was extremely insecure in her movements. Didn't look fluent to me at all

22:32 While they were able to execute these really technical camera shots, when they didn't have a super specific vision of what the shots were going to be YLE didn't really seem to know what to do. You saw this with Erika's performance where in the first bit most of the shots were from odd angles and in the final bit where the camera starts just spinning around and most of the frame is filled by an audience you can barely see instead of her and the massive mic stand

on the note of the eurosong panel, i hadn't watched the final before and was taken aback by the fact that they give criticism to the songs before voting, just because i was not expecting that to be an aspect of it. i can totally understand how this would affect voting, i quite liked reylta's studio cut and thought her performance was executed well enough but the panel's comments were basically that the song wasn't the right fit for eurovision and would do poorly. if i was thinking about spending money to vote for this song i would probably be wary after hearing the panel's comments because they almost act as a face for what the jury might be rooting for, so i would just assume that reylta would bomb in the jury and there would be no point in voting for her because she wouldn't be a contender. i think a world exists where a panel could give feedback while not influencing the televote this much, maybe if they put more of an emphasis on giving feedback within the context of revamping the package for eurovision, brainstorming changes to the song and the staging with the 'assumption' that the song would be going to eurovision. instead, they pretty much just said 'this song should go to eurovision' or 'this song would be bad for eurovision' and only suggested changes for the ones they saw as viable options.

IMO even having panel giving opinions about songs at all (es. before voting) is quite amateurish, and totally needless. All the countries that regularly do well don't have one, reason enough... (Except Ukraine, but there the panel is also the jury, at least used to be, haven't watched it now.)

While I liked that the panel at least gave -mostly- constructive criticism (though it was said unnecessarily harshly at times), I don't understand why they have it in the first place, especially before voting has closed when it can and will influence voting. It's better than the panel just hyping up every songs' chances despite the song and performance quality, but that doesn't mean it's necessary in the first place. Then again, I don't know if it would work after voting either? I could see it working if the panel was also the jury, and they'd give their reasoning why they ranked the songs as they did, during their voting sequence. Maybe.
