It never ceases to amaze me about the history of humanity's cruelty to itself over the passage of time. We never learn from the past and continue to hurt and harm and destroy ourselves. Why is that ? God help us all !!!!!

Yes, many tears from me. The photo of the surviving gentlemen gutted me. Joy from the faces of some that they were together again, but look at the haunted expressions from others. Why is life here so loveless for many?

I don’t blame him for killing the SS Guards. Witnessing Women and Children being sent to their deaths while the guards take pleasure in the suffering could cause a person to psychologically break.

That really kill me when people like you or y'all make comments like this. Everybody in the world including USA was commiting war crimes, it was a period of world domination and which country would be the super power. Go look at Stalin go look at the Japanese doctor, who I say was worse then them all. I can keep naming but you get the point. And by the way I'm black but understand European protocols

@@mycheesesteak But see what people don't understand world war 2 was different from any war. Wars before that, countries met at a mutual ground and just shot it out. WW2 was about world domination and supremacy so you had to kill off the opposition so you can make your country powerful. I'm a black man and I understand everything Hitler did and his ideology

Excellent commentary..as always. Life is such a lottery it seems. What would've happened to Arkady if he hadn't been treated in the hospital in Kiev when he was first wounded? Given present events it appears the horrors of WW2, especially on the Ostfront where not enough to prevent a repeat scenario!

It never ceases to amaze me how the workd never learned from Germany and WW1. Allowing it to regroup as a country and force WW2was was unbelievable. In my opinion it should never have been allowed to re-unify after its crimes of WW2, the eastern half should have been divided up between the other surrounding countries long before the Iron Curtain fell. The Germans were never made to pay enough back for what they did to Europe and the world - twice.

Arkady was a very brave man. I am pleased that he survived the war & was able to start a new life. The SS was Evil. Killing millions of innocent men, women & children. Human beings are capable of so much good & so much destruction. Hard to imagine, which is why even after being warned about the Sobibor Camp, no one escaped from the hole in the floor of the train. I suppose one had to actually be there to understand. How very sad! This is why we need to never forget the Truth of what occurred & not BAN things connected to Nazi Germany. If you do, future generations will never believe the horrors that occurred during WW 2.

I'm surprised that the SS let him live. Most of the guards were Ukrainians who had been POWs, who were dying of hunger in the camps. Volunteers were quizzed on their anti-Semitic thinking. Those chosen to serve were sent to the Trawniki camp to be trained. Known thereafter as "Trawnikimanner. Arkady might have been treated poorly by them, or might have made "common cause" with them. The SS were not the sharpest tools in the drawer.

Although Nazis can make you be a shame to be a member of the human race these freedom fighters can make you be proud to be a member of the human race. I would have loved to have met these men shook their hands and tell them how brave they were. It's brave just start murdering people that are armed with machine guns while you have nothing more than an axe what was done to the Jews was horrid no doubt about it. What a lot of people have seen to forgotten though is if anything there was even more Russians killed and the hideous medical experiments that they talked about was normally performed on Russians. You know there was a doctor one time and he received 75 boxes all of the boxes were filled simply with human heads. He asked the person that brought them are these Jews and they said no these are mostly Russians that were murdered by contraption similar to a guillotine. There is no other way to say it and there is no words to convey what kind of monsters and even worse fiends these bottom feeders were. And a lot of Germany is said to possessed body odor so apparently they didn't even know how to clean themselves.I am not talking about the normal German people that fought against Hitler I'm talkin about the rest that followed him. The Russians were considered slavs and therefore by Nazi ideology racially inferior. Most of Eastern Europe is slavs and places like Czechoslovakia Albania, Poland and many others. No countries protected their Jews with the exception of Denmark. Not a single concentration camp was built in Denmark.
