How come all these senior German senior commanders served on the western front didn’t any serve on the eastern front during World War One ?
@frenzalrhomb691910 ай бұрын
Because that was just where the vast baulk of the fighting Armies that were of any real, and direct concern to the German Empire were stationed, e.g : - the French and English Commonwealth Force's, and then later, the American Force's as well. The Eastern, and Italian (Southern Front) were no where near as pressing a matter as the Western Front was, from a Strategic and Tactical point of view, than the Eastern Front. That much being said, also from a Political point of view, it was vital for the French to win on the Western Front, no matter what the cost in Men and Material, after the "National Disgrace" imposed upon her by the thorough going defeat, imposed upon them by the German States (led by Prussia) in the War of 1871, some of which the senior Staff on both the French and German Sides had fought for their Countries in 1871, Men such as Hindenburg for Germany and Foch for France are two examples that spring to mind. Also, it's worth mentioning that Paul Von Hindenburg and Eric Ludendorff, were both rushed to East Prussia very early in ww1, to stem a huge attack by a massive number of Russians, in which the German Commander at the time (whose name) now escapes me) had lost his nerve, and was in headlong retreat. The Russian Commander by the name of Samsonov, was enticed to split his forces when didn't have (and really shouldn't have) and was himself then given a lesson in what "defeat in detail" looks like, at the now famous "battle of 2nd battle of Tannenburg, the first took place some Centuries before and resulted in a defeat of the German Teutonic Knights, an Aristocratic Order of Fighting Monks, that had for many Centuries till this point, run the State of Prussia, and at one time held all or nearly all of what we now refer to as the Baltic Countries. They defeated by a combined force of Poles, backed up with both Russian Cossack, and Tartar mercenaries, from the Crimea, I think. It's also another one of those "Historical Coincidences," that some forbare's of Von Hindenburgs, also fought in the first battle of Tannenburg, in the year 1415, if I'm not mistaken. Hindenburg family were Prussian Aristocracy through and through!!

@@paulroberts6889 Von Prittwitz you say? I think you're right on the money with that name. And I also think you're in saying that he was "unceremoniously dissmised from Office" after that particular performance. I just couldn't put a name to the Man at all when I was writing that earlier post the other week, but I'd also like to take the opportunity of not only thinking you for naming the O.I.C in the East, but also to apologise for the tardiness of this reply. I am honestly sorry about that. P.S : - Also another interesting point is that for all his experience gained in ww1, "The Desert Fox" Erwin Rommel, was never stationed on the Western Front during ww1, either. He saw action in Rumania, and also I believe in the far Western Regions of Ukraine for a short time, but from what I recall, he and the Force's he led were seconded to the Austro-Hungarian Army, fighting on the Isonzo Front, which is where he led the action that was to earn him Germany's Highest Military Honour, the "Blue Max" as it was known to some Soldiers, but known to history as the "Pour Le Merite" in English simply "for Merritt", this Medal was the equivalent of the English Victoria Cross, or the American Congregational Medal of Honour, which he would go on with just a handful of other Men and win the 3rd Reich's Highest Military related Medal, the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, with Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds or the equivalent to having attained the Medal on four different occasions. Truly a very brave Soldier, in anybody's book!!

Yet he did not have children, it was all about setting up Germany for the future by making the people follow guidelines and having "racial hygiene". So that the Germans of tomorrow would be true Aryans in a jew free Europe while Slavic slaves worked for the master race (like in antic-greece). Moreover, to be an Aryan, you didn't need to have blue eyes and blond hairs. Skull measurements an proportions, ancestry, being brave and fit also played a massive part in determining if you were Aryan or not (that's not even taking in consideration honorary Aryans like Japanese, Muslims, loyal Nazi Mischlings...etc).
