8 swear words, good job cutting down ;) I like your pure no nonsense straight talking, to be honest, no need to stop swearing on our account, if you don't like it move along. I quite liked the sped-up caliper rebuild you should include more scenes like that, just film from a distance, get it all in shot and cut it down to 30-60 seconds of frenzy work. I'm working on a project bike rebuild and some of your tips really help, btw your were right about the last screw always rounding happened on my carburetta strip down today.

Don't change , it's part of the channel. Perhaps you need to start putting affiliated links in for the consumables you use. As I now have purchased the CU 800 the ATE rubber grease and the Molly Marine grease that you used. Knowing what the professionals use is a good to know. At least you could increase your revenue stream. Keep the great work up.

Marine grease is what the linkages on my last 4 bikes have got done with such an improvement over lithium grease, with it's properties,,great series from Northern Ireland

As some one that works with old bikes, watching you fight the bolts and screws is a very familiar thing. However, when I refit all bolts and screws I use nickel anti seize, this means there is never an issue in the future.

Did you know, Yamaha Blue Spot calipers are machined then coated where as most are coated then machines. That's why Blue Spot calipers tend not to corrode. 90's and early 2000's Yamahas, just 👌 build quality.

I believe the blue spot calipers have some kind of Cerakote enamel treatment, even after many salt drenched winters they seem to hold up pretty well, and are highly resistant to weather, top quality as usual from Yamaha, but the rear silver versions on some bikes are no so good and suffer badly after a winter in the Uk.

The welder in me couldn't resist getting a flap disc onto those fish-eye weld stops. Rest of the weld looks nice. Great idea to use the Marine grease. Coming together really nicely

Love this series. I did a similar job to a 5PW R1(2002) a couple of years ago. Gave me a lot of satisfaction, it looks like a new one now. Still a great bike to ride out on open roads.

Keep the ball bearings, Yamaha knew what they were doing, for that matter factory Hondas used ceramic ball bearings for the steering as they gave better feel.

I read that ball bearings are better than taper roller bearings. They are easier to set up and give better steering feel.

My impression is that every time those steering bearings get damaged is due to either lack of lub or water ingress, sealing shot why change to roller, when the issue isn't load? And ball bearings offer less resistance for the same load

Occasional swearing can be a healthy form of emotional expression, IE they have a soothing effect on the psyche,, however, excessive profanity has the opposite effect, leaving one drained of real emotions. Constant swearing desensitizes us to its emotional impact, leaving us with fewer linguistic tools to express intense feelings. It’s like eating your favorite food every day, eventually, it loses its special zing. The big question on many lips of late is, to remove the blue spots or not to remove them, as long as the seals within are intact it matters not, after a cooking in chemicals there is no way to tell if they have been effected without removing and or visually inspecting them.
