I have 4 cords to move inside. And I'm 79 with only the wife to help. My next winters wood is always inside . No out into the snow to get wood.

WOW, I shut my wood burner down 3 Weeks ago. I have been burning 2 330 gal IBC totes worth of paper & Cardboard I just got. so I am keeping My domestic Water hot LOL...

I’m currently doing the same thing. My personal rack of dry wood gets moved from the woodyard to my rack near the house, 1 1/2 cord. Next week I will fill woodyard rack for 2025-26 fireplace burning. I’m delivering wood to myself and I have no help, you lucky dog you.

It's nice to be ahead and be able to deliver to yourself well in advance, but yeah doing those deliveries and having an extra set of hands is nice.

There is always something that can be done, that's for sure. I keep track as best I can...is nice having a supply a few years ahead, but it does take up space.

We had an exceedingly mild winter this year, so we burned only about 3/4 of a cord! I found a dead and blown over (partially) large cedar tree on our 5 acres so last weekend salvaged it, adding back to a stack, then last Thursday, I spotted a sign that said free firewood, so I showed up with my small trailer and cherry picked some hardwood rounds and a couple of nice large limbs to cut up. At 74 yo, I cannot load those honking big rounds by myself anymore, but I got enough to finish off replacement of the wood we burned last winter. Its all nicely split and sitting under cover on my back porch! For me that is a pretty good effort, but I do not have either the help or the equipment you have! HA HA I try to keep 4 cords on hand, 2 aged out and 2 aging! I do not have to worry with tarps or getting out in the rain to bring in firewood for our downstairs wood heater. I also love having some rounds ready to split and when it is raining or snowing, going out on the porch and splitting them with my electric splitter. Sure, it is slow, but so am I! And it is always nice to see the stacks filled up, kinda my security blankie! HA HA

That's the way to do it....get it under cover for next year and then have a year or 2 ahead...nice job! Slow and steady wins the race my friend...no need to hurry.

You are right on Dan. The number 1 Wood Customer is myself and Wife. Going to be on the Log Pile this Weekend Saturday for only 1&1/2 hours only. Cutting up Oak and Locust. I use the MS-260 PRO When I cut on the Log Pile and then Trim it up with my 20inch Farm Boss. I put all the Slash and Cookies in Boxes to use for Starting my Fires in the Stove. I stack mine on Pallets, cover with a Tarp when it Storms and uncover it when nice out. See you Friday Nite Live for a few minutes. Early Day Saturday for Cutting. Being warm like it is, will the boiler get clogged with creosote like last year?

I still need to be able to walk through the shed and if the pile gets too high it spills down the side...might put another load in and add a bit more to that pile.

This is true, and eventually would be nice to put a slab down or maybe gravel.

@@Back40Firewood What about 2 inches of crushed stone or peastones? Next winter it will squish into the ground a little, but be less mushy. And the following spring grass will grow right through it. If you keep it flat you can pretty much mow over it as long as no-one is around. ?👍

Don’t ever store your wood next to your stove. You’re just asking to loose everything! One loose ember and it’s all over.

I've heard of that happening, but it is from embers falling down from the stack/chimney and the chimney being short. All the wood is under the roof over the boiler and chimney is extended.
