The vlog is LATE, jk who cares. Happy Friday! And drop some ideas about my next must learn thing.

I find toe-side carving much less sketchy, so I started with push-up slides. Trying to coleman taught me how weak my heel-side carving was.

5:22 wet roads can help learn to slide, but make sure to dry your board off quickly after and use old bearings because even a little water can wreck your bearings
@gavincleland90104 жыл бұрын
I’d like to keep seeing your progression. If you want, pick up some footbrake soles to get more life out of your shoes. Practice your racing tuck to get your back flat, and parallel to the road. Keep working on that Coleman, get your toe side drifts and heel side drifts around corners figured out. After that I think it’s time to practice stand up slides! Would be much easier to handle that step on a more advanced longboard setup though

Very cool video! The falls were weirdly enough the most inspirational thing about this since I haven't seen many beginner longboarder videos! Keep up the good work

Seriously. This is one of the best how to's. In terms of breaking down the steps and seeing the thought process. Very motivating. Glad you got it! I'm too scared to practice by myself. That is one thing holding me back.
@beingarealballa3 жыл бұрын
I know it may seem scary. But after first time you try it, the thrill takes over! lol Take your board to a quite mellow road just to get the feeling.

Yeah I need to learn how to Coleman and get a helmet. Took a nasty fall yesterday gonna stop riding until I'm all healed up again and get a helmet and stuff. Been lucky, not feeling like pushing it anymore.

It helps a lot to grab the rail of your board. For cornering grab the front, and for sliding grab the middle.
@beingarealballa5 жыл бұрын
Been tried a few times and I'm not sure if that's best for beginners. It is way too easy to go stinky bug and caught up with your front edge. Nasty things happen after :-o

I started sticking some 180 coleman slides after only about and hour or two of pracitce with my Sector9 PreBuilt! I just ordered the correct wheels so hopefully that'll help.
@stectom5 жыл бұрын
Well done! It looks like your board has pretty grippy wheels (2:34), possibly they would be sliding more controllably at faster speeds. Did you experiment with other wheels hardness, shapes/sizes?
@beingarealballa5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Not really to be honest. I may do a sequel about how I started modifying the pre-built deck and experiences.

You "fall" so gracefully. Great shot at 7:04. We admire your persistence! Sometimes we are so quick to fail and simply quit. You are amazing.

The only real failing is quitting. Skating is not all about talent but mileage. Thank you very much for your comment!

Bro honestly I learned it in a few days but it was a lot of going up that hill and doing it over and over again. Wear pads, drink plenty of water
@deaddave97394 жыл бұрын
You have to practice often, even if you manage to do a trick if you don’t practice again you can lose the skill pretty fast, my advice is to keep practicing it every day and soon you’ll get the muscle memory down
@ballagina6 жыл бұрын
I'm curious what will be the next trick you learn. 😊

@jonathanforlin18545 жыл бұрын
Very good, watching your failed attempts helps me learn better then watching pros just bang out slides. Round edge wheels would have made it even easier, but then I spent $70CDN on my slide wheels. Your budget board works and proved that anything works.

For future reference water is bad for your bearings
@beingarealballa5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right, I just needed a break through in my progress
@Dr_Footbrake4 жыл бұрын
Devin Wright stainless steel bearings and machine grease - might roll a little slower but you’ll be able to ride through water with minimal bearing degradation

Nicely done. I'm pretty sure just getting competent at skating took me much longer than 15 days.

@samcolonius25664 жыл бұрын
You gotta work on your tuck and for slide wheels it's not the duro that makes it easier to slide it's the urethane formula and the ones your using are cruiser based, also you never want to skate dh with a flexy deck

The city that I live without a short slope that allow me to try T.T. I am waiting until I finished my high school and move to a less crowded city
@beingarealballa5 жыл бұрын
You can go for a less crowded country side rode to try slides. But don't forget to have your friends as spotters
@gavincleland90104 жыл бұрын
I just left San Antonio Texas after 5 or 6 years of skating almost every day in one of the biggest cities in America. If you look hard enough for a spot to skate you will definitely find something.

Umm In a couple of hours I learned to do a perfect slide. Probably because on a skateboard I had practice doing stand ups.
@aanoniem45344 жыл бұрын
Lmao have the same
@adamdauble9144 жыл бұрын
If it was on a skateboard it’s much easier. I learned it as well on a skateboard, but still can’t on my longboard. The softer wheels grip the ground making it harder to slide. So you have to learn at high speeds.
