Where I'm at I can either have 8 mbps for about 60$ which is absolute garbage and barely usable with anyone else on the connection or I could pay some other bullshit company 150$ for 100 mbps. The second company I mentioned got bought recently by a much bigger competitor that wasn't in my region though so hopefully the hurry the fuck up and change those pricings. Click read more for explanation of what they mean in the video about the 500$ a month. So going back to the point of the video. Until a few years ago, the BS ISP I mentioned above had data caps, for every GB you went over the 30GB cap(unlimited from midnight to 8am) they would charge you 10$, that racks up VERY quickly which is what they mean by paying 500$ a month for crappy internet.

@@matx6666 Damn, that fucking sucks. Apparently, some companies (I think Tesla) are working on offering good satellite connections to remote places, including in Canada. I live in the city, and I pay $85 CAD/month for a 400 Mbps connection, and my speed tests show it often over performs.

Lived my 68 years in Canada. Married, raised a family and retired in Edmonton. I never considered car insurance, housing costs, health care waits or high tax rates as reasons to leave Canada. I sometimes feel the discomfort of our cold winters, but I also realize I don’t face the peril of volcanos, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornados and floods (seldom). Our neighbourhood is diverse, welcoming and safe. I welcome those who wish to come to Canada. Btw- our public health care system saved my life from a cardiac arrest 5 years ago. Not bad, eh?

@@Stephen__White our internet and cell phones are notorious for being high priced globally. Only recently (last couple of yrs ) have prices began to drive down. Traditionally it's been high priced with mediocre speeds and data caps. Previously you had about 3 choices in the gta. Bell, robbers or teksavvy. You could save a bit with teksavvy. The landscape has changed a lot these days. But even now youre still looking at $85 cad/month from bell for 50down 10 up. That's not that cheap for that kind of mediocre service. But it's better than it used to be. Prices go up from there for faster service and even in the gta you cant get the best service everywhere. Only in certain spots.

My question for you in your opinion what are the odds of these people being let in to Canada ? There are already illegally in Mexico, do they even qualify to file a Asylum petition? From my understanding in order for you to do this you have to do it from your country of origin.

@@isap9535 Hi Isa, yes we do get migrants from other countries who try to cross our MASSIVELY WIDE BORDER WITH THE USA. Some have even frozen to death at remote crossings in Manitoba. It's absolutely heartbreaking what lengths some people go to for freedom. Remember that although Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world in land area, we have 1 10th the population of America. We have about 38 million people, just 2 million over the population of California.

Internet in rural areas stinks in the US too, and I get unlimited internet (50+ MBPS) for $50/month. It's not the best, but it's not the worst either. I was just about to reply and say the same thing. Completely uneducated and misleading information to Canada's current telecom. I live in a rural population, within Southern Ontario we were wired up with 'Fiber to the Premise' approximately 5 years ago. They are now laying another fiber line to provide us with a secondary backup link should the first fail for any reason (which it hasn't thus far). They are also laying additional fiber down the other side of the street and connecting many more households. Granted in this situation, this a town of roughly 1900 people. In greater sized population centres, they have delayed laying fiber because the cost per mile is far greater, especially when in comes to what they call "the last mile". Which is why the rural towns are starting to see superior internet access in the last 5-10 years, making the information you presented very out of date and inaccurate. It the most remote regions of Canada, what the author of this video claims temporarily remains true. However even that is about to quickly disappear given that Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Systems like Starlink (funded by Elon Musk), will quickly change that situation within the next 6-12 Months. In fact in most places, like even in the US the biggest obstacle to living in remote regions becomes: 1. Access to goods and services 2. Fertile/Workable land to grow food or build a home 3. Access to electricity and a safe water supply Let's dispel this myth that Canadians are still some backward civilisation living in igloos and start promoting accurate information, such as leading amongst the top of the world in many other areas. (Sorry to the OP, most of this is directed at the author of this video)

You can also pay for private healthcare in Canada if you want. I 100% disagree with the point on internet. Yes if you go live in a rural area you will suffer but this is the same in the US. I pay $110 per month in Niagara for 1.5 gigs download and 1 gig upload unlimited. no that's not a typo.

Back in Sweden after a backpacking in Canada and here is my results: 1: Part of wi-fi isnt true they have good speed but it can come and go even in a city as Toronto. 2: Flying tickets can be EXTREMLY expensive if you dont pay in advance, i payed for my ticket to Vancouver from Calgary in 2 moths advance ( 1500 sek -223 CAD) while my ticket from Van - Toronto was 359 caus i booked it a week earlier. 3: Rent a car since everthing is far away, it took me nearly 3 hours from Calgary to Banff (Shuttle) . And is very complicated to go to Lake Loiuse since buses from banff town is very crowdy. 4: Book ALWAYS in advance for your room at hostals (I did) since rent a hotelroom here speacially in Vancouver and Toronto is very expensive places. 5: Coming here in Juli-August your skinn will melt since it is 30 plus celsius EVERYDAY even when raining! 6: DONT come to Canada in juli/august due to the tourist season, even do tourist come all around the year! 7: The part of passiveaggressive residence is true, if not try go out a night or use tinder and see for yourselfs XD 8: Part of grocery and fruit is false, 3 apples for 7 dollar in Toronto is a ripoff, here in sweden i get 5 apples for the prise of 3,50 Cad, so canada is defenitly getting expensive!

Born and raised in Toronto. I've lived in BC, Manitoba, Ontario and Alberta. $400 internet? I live in a major city now and I pay less than $60 for unlimited amazing internet. I've also lived in small cities and had no data cap with great rates. I work in healthcare and can confirm the wait times are long, especially to see a specialist. Need a family doctor? Good luck finding one quickly in a lot of cities. There are many good paying jobs here in a lot of industries. Finally, I live in Alberta in a large city. Real estate here is very affordable compared to Vancouver or Toronto. It gets cold? It gets cold in New York, Michigan, Illinois, Maine, etc.

I love EVERYTHING about BC❤️ It’s a very beautiful, scenic, best cultured Country, with the most friendly, well natured nicest people! The nature here is phenomenal. Btw, I’ve had no issues waiting for tests in healthcare. Think I’ve waited less then a month to see a specialist! Also, I’m a caregiver, and the job market for my field is in very high demand. Love my new Country...my new home🇨🇦 The ONLY reason why more aren’t here is because either they’re all talk or, ummm, maybe because the borders are closed? 🤦‍♀️😂Ps....hopefully staying closed until it’s more stable there in the US. Insurance in Quebec is cheaper because of the social platting system, we pay 300$ a year for plates because all drivers get basic responsibility insurance and if you own a speed bike you are paying over 1K a year for plates besides the gas prices. Our medical system isnt great, they told my buddy his pace-maker was failing for 2 years and kept him on the waiting list for surgery, luckily because it turned out they were checking it with the wrong equipment and turned out it was fine. I waited 2 years for a sleep apnea diagnosis. Fast internet isnt too bad but cell phone plans are HORRIBLE and the big 3 in Canada fought to keep Verizon out to keep prices high. Just to get into Canada to visite is a pain, Joey Diaz which is a famous comedian/actor cant pass the border because he has a criminal record besides the Canadian Govt trying to stop artists like Eminem at the airport. good video pretty accurate. I actually have been thinking of moving to the USA.

As someone who has lived in Canada all my life, most of this video is complete crap. Here's a breakdown, from an actual Canadian, about what this video gets completely wrong. 10. Car insurance can be expensive depending on where you live, but it does not interfere in our ability to own a vehicle, or get around. 9. The fact that our cities are so spread a part is actually a good thing. The fact that the US is a smaller country than us, but has 10x the population is incredibly concerning. Canadians love the land of our country and the fact that it isn't so overcrowded. Plus, as someone who has been to all 48 contiguous states, I can tell you there are plenty of places in your country where you have to drive 100s of miles before you see a city. 8. I will agree that wait times for non-emergency medicine can be a problem. But that's just it. NON-EMERGENCY! If your life is threatened, you're not going to wait. And on top of that, you're not going to have to mortage your house to pay for having a baby, or for cancer treatments. If I need to wait a little while to get something annoying checked, I'll deal with that over losing my home. People's impatience is not an excuse to say you shouldn't live here. 7. We're not a country of McJobs! Every person I know has a very good paying job, both in offices, and remotely. Yes, there are plenty of entry level positions, but also tons of decent jobs across the whole country. 6. WTF are you talking about when it comes to internet? 5Mbps for $500? Are you high? I live in Atlantic Canada and have 1.5 Gbps internet and it's maybe $115. All of the internet packages I can subscribe to are nowhere near $500. Yes, some packages have data caps, but most of them do not. Rural internet in some places is higher, but that is also the case virtually everywhere else in the world, not just Canada. 5. Yes, our taxes are higher. That one I will agree upon. But also look at the quality of life we have. Between health care, and other social programs, we choose to take care of our people, even when they can't take care of themselves. There's a reason why Canada is consistently rated one of the best places to live in the world. The quality of life for Canadians is simply worth having to pay a little bit more out of our pockets. 4. Real estate has become expensive here. But guess what? So has everything. The prices of everything have gone through the roof over the last two years so it's no wonder it's harder to pay for things. Not just a Canadian problem. 3. This is really insulting. Saying that all Canadians are passive aggressive is really insulting. That's like saying all Americans are all self-centered and arrogant. To blanket 35+ million people with one mindset is a terrible thing. My experience with Canadians vs Americans has always been that we tend to be a little more quiet or humble in our opinions of things. It doesn't make us passive aggressive. It simply means that we don't feel the need to blast people for things that really don't matter. We selectively choose when we want our voice heard when it matters. That's a cultural difference. 2. We don't have 8 months of being cold. Yes, we get snow, but guess what? We're more northern than the US. If you don't like dealing with snowstorms and cold weather for part of the year, then this one I will agree. Stay away! 1. Immigration is a complex issue no matter where we are. I won't pretend to know the intricacies here, but again, much like this entire list, you can't just blanket a simple statement like this.

After watching this this video I started to get upset, and after reading through the comments I started crying. Canada is a great place and there's lots of public transportation, so you don't really need a car to get around. You are also judged us to be "faking" being friendly and lying about how we feel. Not a highly intellectual treatment of this country. One of the major limiting factors in the high taxation rate. (Do you really believe socialized medicine is free?) To understand the cultural differences more fully, examine Canada's history. The nuances in culture can be limiting, but the almost national resentment and paranoia (re: the country immediately to the South) should be considered lest you alienate your neighbors. Generally, all cultures and countries have strengths and weaknesses, but having lived in both countries, I would tend to disregard much of what this superficial treatment of a great country has to offer. If we were to discuss weaknesses, this presentation is quite weak in substance.

My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! I now understand (as before I did not) why even some of my African colleagues are looking forward to go back to Africa or to some of them, immigrate to Europe! .. none of us want to be left alone and depressed in this so highly individualistic and unfriendly, falsely “cool” country called Canada… a country that claims America and France are racist countries when not even one CEO in Canada is coloured! I am also fed up of Canadians being cool!!!! Cool???? Yes, their humour is crap and they are all too serious… not astonishing why so many end up being depressed or on meds to be able to function! Last: I am fed up with 1. The stupid credit score system which makes North Americans anxious and frustrated!!!! Stupidity does not even exist in France or Belgium where I am from! 2.food is Canada is … not good…lol… really close to being bad! 3.the country is boring… reason… people are so disciplined and nothing happens!!! I just miss Europe even if we are far from being perfect and I prefer our imperfections to the Canadian perfect society which end up making people boring and annoying!!! 4. Canadians are shallow compared to us Europeans 5. Their transit system sucks if compared to Europe 6. Health care system is nothing comptable to what we got in Europe!!!! Result: I leave Canada years before retirement as The last thing I want for me is to remain in a country and get “sunk” Into Canadian depression, Canadian loneliness and Canadian “coolness”. Ohh just as an indicator, it is really rare to see someone who is happy in Vancouver BC these days… the city just looks like a factory to make people work, make Canadian banks richer and pay taxes! Apart from that, I do not give a damn about the beautiful scenery and lakes as long as everyone around gets scammed with unjustified and ridiculous high cost of living!!!

"while the US gave a one time payment of 1,200, Canada is giving 2,000 a month for the next 4 months" this is very wrong. The "2,000 a month" is Canada's version of unemployment, which in the US, was 600 a week, or 2,400 USD vs the 2,000 CAD that Canada is giving out. The 1,200 USD the US gave to EVERY citizen was on top of the 2,400 USD for those who lost their jobs. In Canada, if you didn't lose your job, you didn't get anything. Comparing unemployment to a stimulus check is just lying...

Just to emphasize the distance thing. If you start driving from, say, Budapest, you can visit friends in Bratislava, Vienna, and drive on to Salzburg, spending a few hours on the road, but you've been to 4 countries. You can live in Toronto, Ontario, start driving, and 4 hours later, you're STILL in Ontario, and haven't gone very far. In fact, it's taken you 2 hours alone just to get OUT of Toronto. And since gas is in litres, and it's roughly 4 litres to a gallon, and our gas is provincially taxed, then federally taxed, then when you pay, you're taxed AGAIN on the taxes, it's more cost-effective to stay home and Facetime whoever you were going to visit. Right now, we pay about $1.40/litre. Times four, that's about $5.60 a gallon. In Newfoundland, it's a LOT more expensive. But then, health care is free.

WHAT? Up to 37% tax rate in the US? This, from the country where it's people LOVES to bash my country (Norway) for high taxes??? Basic tax in Norway is 27% (increased rate for income that goes over specific treshholds, but then only for the exceeding amount), and we have LOTS of deductables to lower it. And for that, we get universal health care, no tuition for public schools, shitloads of support systems for unemployed / disabled / pregnant women / parents / sick people / etc, etc, etc. And I've even heard americans claiming paid vacation is a myth - well, we have 5 weeks + some holidays. Average health insurance in the US is currently $7,470 for an individual, which ALONE is more than I pay in taxes, after deductables. And for that, what do you get, compared to Norway? MAYBE a little shorter queues, I'm not even sure about that. You americans can keep that shithole you call "the greatest country in the world".
