I'm a chef with dermatitis, I work with other chefs with dermatitis. It's normal. To dumb it down it's from hand washing striping your skins natural oils etc. If anything it's a sign of a clean chef (or in this case baker), not a dirty one 🤦‍♀️

I'm a customer and as long you make delicious food and I don't get sick from it, I could not care less of how your hands look like. I would enter your restaurant believing you would not risk your business, working with a contagious disease. I don't understand people who don't trust anyone but still eat out. 😂

My father has psoriasis. He never worked in a bakery, because psoriasis is different and flakes, but he never went swimming around anyone (public or private) because everyone looked at his skin like he was infectious to be in the water with. He’s also a small business owner, a carpenter. He finally made enough from the farm and the carpentry business that he was able to not only get on a good med to help clear his psoriasis, but also build a beautiful pool and hot tub. I swam with my dad for the first time when I went down to visit last year, despite spending so many hours fishing and on the water with him as I was growing up.

I'll pass on to you some wisdom from back when I was in restaurant maintenance - 1. Some people will do whatever it takes to get something for nothing. 2. Never underestimate the stupidity of people (esp. incompetent criminals)!! Also, I have heard from a number of clergy members that they would rather do ten funerals than one wedding!

I've always had issues with my hands cause of some OCD issues with hand washing but it got so much worse when I started working in a bakery. The combo of the constant glove wearing and handwashing made my hands almost constantly red, cracky, and dry.

I know it’s not the point of the video, but in America Victoria would not be allowed to discuss Alice’s dermatitis with Carol because of HIPPA. I don’t think that even Victoria would be allowed to know about it, as long as it’s not contagious. Carol just needs to keep her mouth shut and opinions to herself! edit: I also wouldn’t sell her anything when she came back.

HIPPA is an American regulation so it might not apply. I was doing a similar thing while watching this going "isnt carol defaming the business? Outright lying about a business is slander esp after the hygiene inspector approved their practices" but things like privacy and business rights are location and time specific. Carol may be fully within her rights to do what she did in the Republic of Ireland

I am glad that I am behind the walls quality checking my strudels and nit being the one who has to speak with all the Carols out there. Big prop to you! I would advise though to have tweezers or one use gloves around to use for picky customers, it helps to eliminate the concerns of the "washed or not washed hands" question in the heads of people.

One time I found multiple long straight black hairs in my sandwitch. I nicely talked to the guy who made the sandwitch, and he told me that the hairs were definitely mine. I have curly light blonde hair. This guy had long straight black hair like fabio and wore no hair net. I told him it couldn't be mine because the hair was black and I'm blonde. He said "that's not my problem." He didn't remake my $15 sandwitch that I had only taken two bites of, and I threw it away. Honestly, after talking to him, I didn't even want him to remake the sandwitch because he seemed a little unhinged and I was certain he would spit in my remade sandwitch or FAR worse. Needless to say, I never went back to that deli.
