This week we visit two of the lesser known of Utah's wonderful state parks. Both have wonderful campgrounds but will require advanced planning to get a reservation. We enjoyed seeing beautiful logs of petrified wood at Escalante Petrified Forest and a fabulous e-bike ride at Kodachrome Basin. At the end of the video my friend shares her experience with her 4 Seasons Hawk camper shell on an F150 pickup truck.

We had just said "Deb is careful coming down the hill and John is doing 20mph just like Owen". And then the next scene is him in a ditch. Sounds like he's OK but that is a scary time for you guys and scary for us to see too. Take care of yourselves so you're in good shape for when we arrive next year. Beautiful, beautiful, another wonderful and informative video. You do such a great job with your photography and putting just the right music with the rhythm of whatever you and John are doing. I’m keeping track of many of the sites you have visited, I will make use of them when we visit Utah in the spring. So many fantastic places to visit. Hopefully John is on the mend. I retired a year ago. I'm getting ready to build out a van so I can move from the tent camping I love to having a better way to spend more time on the road visiting beautiful places all over the country. On my long list of places to explore are more nooks and crannies of my home state, Utah. As in most places, we don't have to travel too far out our back doors to enjoy the beauty of Mother Earth here in Utah. Your videos showcase the beauty of every place you visit so well, they make me even more excited to have a van to explore in. I love the little bits of information you give about the places you visit. Thanks for sharing your adventures, tips, creativity and cooking ideas. Thanks for promoting following rules that help keep the out doors and our land clean and beautiful for all to enjoy as well as safety/courtesy information. Love your happy personality and great videos.

Great video! Thanks for sharing another beautiful place with us! BTW, I’ve been to the Smokey Bear 🐻 museum that was recommended to you. It’s on the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway in Capitan, New Mexico - not too far from Ruidoso, Ft. Stanton, and Lincoln (of the Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid fame). The lovely garden/park at the museum is the final resting place of the original Smokey Bear (yes, there was a real bear). You should definitely put it on your list when you’re going that way in the future.

I’ve noticed in many of your videos that you’re bikes/rack rock back and forth quite a bit. There are ways to stiffen the hitch connection between the vehicle and the rack, otherwise it eventually causes stress fractures where the metal can crack/break. Just keep an eye on it. Otherwise......,not my business I know!......just don’t want to see damage!!!
@FromShetoMe

Thanks. We do keep an eye on it. It really is a tight fit; I think any rack carrying such a heavy load would rock. But appreciate your concern.

Love your channel. Forgive me if this questions has been previously addressed. Are your ebikes considered Class 1, 2 or 3? Do you run into many ebike restrictions when boondocking? Do you encounter specific states that are more restrictive concerning ebikes on trails?
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 3 жыл бұрын
They are class 2 e-bikes. Restrictions run the gamut and we are seeing lots of policy changes everywhere. In Utah, state parks were mostly fine with e-bikes. Every forest in the USFS system seems to be developing their own rules. Some are fine with e-bikes and some are not. Same is true in California. The National Parks have been opening up more to e-bikes but that also seems to be on a park by park basis. If you remember when snow boards came out and ski areas were banning them, it took time for acceptance. I think the same is true with e-bikes. As more people get them and more people try them, the acceptance will come. The YT channel "Bolton E Bikes" recently did a video on the laws which might answer some of your questions. I think most of the friction is coming from hikers and equestrians and I get it. There are trails that should be restricted for all bikes, not just e-bikes. Best thing for all of us to do is be courteous and use our resources gently.

One thing we learned on this trip is that Utah's dirt roads and trails have really deep ruts from when they get rain and really powdery sand (they call it blow sand). Throw in a bunch of rocks and it can be quite an obstacle course. His tire got stuck in a rut and wedged by a rock.
