Thanks Ollie, Steve, and Chris, again another side of fishing I don't do but great video again, really enjoyed watching and learning about bait rigs etc, but I'm sticking with size 20's single maggot and bread for my next trip.

Cheers +Neil Etherington glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to comment! Haha, our next video with Ollie might be with single maggots and size 20's, he said he's going to take us proper Dace fishing, trotting on some small streams, so watch this space! Tight lines, cheers Chris.

Surely using an up trace tied via a swivel to the main line means if you snap off the fish is going to be dragging that lead around as it cannot come free!?
@RunninWithScissors5 жыл бұрын
The leads use quite a big run ring which can slide over the swivel.

Brilliant video, it's nice to see some diversity in what you do, have you ever considered going on a Catfish tour in Spain? It would make for a great film.

What type of wire do you use for your traces, I want to start twisting mine but the wire i use doesn't seem to twist
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ross, I think it was Drennan 7 Strand wire. If you click the Tackle Box link in the video description it should take you through to a tackle list.

From The Waters Edge Tv where else can I go, I've got some things and stuff for pike and carp, I have no idea where a begginer can go for little starter pike's? - Please reply after you get this, (that might be rude, so reply when your free.)
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV8 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, it depends where you are from? Haha. I could give you a few options in Norfolk as thats where we're from, but if you're from the other side of the country I probably cant help! :-) Have you done a google search for Pike fishing in our area? Or for lakes and rivers?

Good informative video. Love my dead baiting but not having much success this season. As both fish were hooked out side of the mouth do you think they were just playing with the bait and got hooked by accident or do you feel they actually picked the bait up to eat it. ? Two good fish on the bank, just curious. Tim
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim, glad you enjoyed it. I think both fish picked up the bait to eat it, we strike fairly early to avoid deep hooked fish, so thats possibly why the hooks were on the outside. We'd rather do that than deep hook them, especially Pike.

I'm new to pike fishing, what sort of rod do you recommend for going after them?
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV9 жыл бұрын
Hi +Stealth Hobo it really depends on how you want to target them? As you can boat or bank fish for them and use deadbaits or lures etc It also depends on how much you want to spend. If you want to fish how we were in the video them a 12ft 3lb test curve Carp rod would be suitable, something like the Fox Warrior around £50-60ish wouldn't be a bad place to start. Hope that helps a little. Cheers Chris
@thomasmorris90229 жыл бұрын
From The Waters Edge TV Thanks alot, I'll look into it - do you know how much a dedicated pike rod would be? I've heard you can get short and stiff rods (lets not go there hey? lol) that are dedicated pike rods for fairly cheep. Or, is the Carp rod still a better choice? I wanted to go after pike with soft bait lures (the little plasticy things - I might have got the name wrong) or dead bait. However, I'd quite like something that's a good all round rod and that I can do things like spinning on too. Thanks alot for the reply mate, you dont seem to see that alot on youtube anymore.

If its personal preference then .... Why buy/use that reel he's not even using the bait runner ?
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV9 жыл бұрын
The bait runner isn't a drag +Elitekiller72 it's just used when the rod is on the rest enabling a fish to take line on the take (which we were using), you don't play/fight the fish on the bait runner. Every reel comes with a drag though, but it's personal preference whatever you want to use - back wind or drag,
