Hello everyone! Thanks for all the incredible support on this video, to everyone who's watched it and commented, we really appreciate everyone's support. We noticed there were a few comments on the weight of the fish and the release of the video, which I feel like we need to address. First of all, we would never exaggerate the weight of a capture (and Phil certainly wouldn't) we never have done, it does nothing for anyone and all you're doing is cheating yourself. On the first weigh of the fish the scales actually went round to 31lb and we have footage of this, which we can happily email to anyone who's doubting it, if they'd like to see it? Phil, who's caught many big Pike, was surprised, so wanted to quickly re-weigh it, which is what we did.) On the second weigh we can see how a minority of people might not be sure it tipped over 30lb, but as Steve leans in front of the camera he removes his hand from the weigh sling and bottom of the scales, which moved the needle round further. At the time our sole aim was to ensure the fish was looked after and not out of the water for any longer than it needed to be. (A big, delicate fish, a small boat, on a windy day, with three people in, it wasn't the easiest thing to do - but it was our priority. It also wasn't a PB for Phil.) We could have edited in the scales reading 31lb, but it's not what we're about, we could have 'click baited' the title with 30lb Pike and shouted about it, but we didn't. It was simply an incredible creature to see (more so for me and Steve as Phil has seen his fair share!) and we hope the video did it justice. It was certainly one of the best things we've ever captured on camera in all the years of doing this and probably will be for many years to come.) Along with the weight we had a couple of comments on the release of the video and how we could have waited until the season ended. First of all we never named the location, to respect others who are fishing in or around the area - we mentioned we were fishing the Norfolk Broads, but they are an expanse of 117 square miles. Secondly the video was actually held back a good number of weeks. (Having filmed with the EA before during their tagging scheme, fish move entire river systems in a matter of days. So it seemed fair on the fish, rather than releasing the video the next day for example.) We could have waited until the end of the season, but it didn't seem right to us to promote Pike fish during the closed season, and also from March onwards as the weather starts to warm. Anyway we hope that's cleared up a couple of questions and once again a massive thank you to everyone for all the support and we hope you've been out catching a few. I hope this message helps a little to the people who have doubted it, as it's been playing on our minds. P.S For those that don't know, or who havent seen our channel before, From the waters edge is Chris and Steve. Although like we did in this episode we do occasionally fish with friends, like Phil, Have a great week and be lucky, Tight lines.

Nice one lads 👍 A 30lb pike is something very very special indeed ! I still have lovely memories of a 28lb pike I caught from the river Wye a long time ago whilst fishing with my late Dad. It was a freezing cold February day and I had caught nothing with my Dad having a few “Jacks”. Something said don’t pack up and as the light faded, I had a pull round on the right hand rod. After a long battle and wading into a bone chilling river, fully clothed with no waders, I netted her - a magnificent fish with only one hook hold in the bony incisor on the side of her mouth! Big Pike are awesome and so much better when seen in reality; I’ll never forget that fish or probably get another 😉

Great quality, amazing catch. 13 years fishing in Broads, landed some bit over 20, have seen 4 feet beast trying to rip 5lb jack from the edge of landing net, and half size duckling disappearing in wide swirl. Maybe Broads aren’t like was in eighties but I still believe in Broads thirty on lure. Thanks for great video, well done 👍🏻

Hi Guys, Thankyou for sharing your footage. That was a great catch, but great respect must go to you, for the confidence in showing how to handle a Pike. I fly fish, and caught a 5-6 pounder, which I was petrified of. Nowhere near your size. To everyone who fishes, you must know this. Pike, eventhough a very aggressive, predatory fish, are very fragile too. If not handled properly, eventhough they may swim away ok, can go off and die through exhaustion of being played. So it's so, so important we wet our hands, so not to burn the fish, and to handle them properly, with care, dignity and respect x.

It’s not secret or hush hush wink wink 🤷🏻♂️people up and down the country have known for years the Norfolk broads holds some beasts even John Wilson on some of the old go fishing footage has had some wackers out of there and I think his nephew Martin bowler has aswell so it’s not like the cat has been let out the bag or anything so no need for any pike anglers to get their nickers in a twist causing their vaginas to explode 😆just saying 🤷🏻♂️😉👍

Incredibly sad indeed.... Would be an absolute crime for anyone to go there and create a memory that would last forever. Perhaps alongside a loved one..... Because that would deprive you or other entitled anglers 24/7 exclusive access. Poor show James. Poor show.

The fact you are here and commenting shows your love for the sport. That can't be questioned 👍🏿 but you were shown the way once upon a time, and I would bet every penny you have fishing memories that will follow you to the grave. I cannot see why it would ever be a sad thing to give ANYONE a chance at a sniff of creating memories in the sport of angling. (the swim will only ever be over populated by dedicated anglers who share your passion for angling) tight lines.

@@bigbadwolf333 oh please, don't make me out to be some kind of Grinch! I'm as happy to see people make memories as you are. There have been numerous incidents where the pike in the Broads have been taken for the table! You're not making memories when the fish no longer exist!

@@jameswebb2568 apologies if I read it wrong, it just looked rather similar to every post I see on beach fishing forums and groups where someone catches a cod and then the locals grumble that 'every man and his dog will be fishing that stretch next weekend' would have been helpful if you'd have specified 'getting hammered by illegal fisherman' then you wouldn't have had to endure my inspirational paragraph 😂 tight lines 🎣

Scales looked like they went to 29,😂
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, Thank you for watching the video, we hope you enjoyed it! :-) And thanks for taking the time to drop us a comment. When we first weighed the fish it actually went over 31lb, which we have on film and can email you the clip if you'd like us too? But Phil, who's caught many big Pike, was surprised so wanted to weigh it again, which we did. On the second weigh in the video it does look like just over 29lb, but as Steve moves his head across, he releases his hand (which was supporting the scales) and it tipped just over. (Like Phil had seen when he was reading them.) Obviously, big delicate fish, small boat, windy day - it wasn't the easiest exercise and we were more concerned about the fish's welfare. I can honestly say hand on heart, we wouldn't lie - it really doesn't make a difference to us, or Phil as it wasn't a PB, it was just a mega, mega fish and something incredible to see. I know Phil would be most upset if he thought we were being ungenuine or exaggerating weights. It's not like we've used the weight in the title as clickbait to get people to watch either. In the edit I didn't notice this fact and how some may think it's slightly misleading, or I could have simply cut the footage out. Or as I said, used the footage of it weighing 31lb, which I can send to you if you wish. I hope you understand and that it hasn't spoiled the video for you. Thank you again for watching and good luck with your fishing!

So it’s 30 and some ozs From over the side of the boat after recovering in the zeroed sling that is now full of water . As the water drains out it’s 28-12 .., The next big one as you pick the scales up they are at zero on the pause , so that’s the fish and sling weight . Why not just enjoy your fishing , no ones impressed except newbie wannabes ! My mate had a big eel some years ago I had to say to him sorry mate it’s 5-15 oz !
@derrillbalshaw11992 жыл бұрын
Take the plastic wrapping off your rod cork handles, because when you leave the wrapping on, and you fish in rainy weather, the cork gets damp. And because it's covered in plastic, it doesn't air and dry out. It stays damp and starts rotting and breaks up. So your expensive rod will soon need re-corking on the handle.
