All the howling, I dont get it. They did a terrific job. The flex at the end was extremely useful, and is almost never done for viewers. He paid special attention to the pinch weld area which is always the weak point for bigger tires. He even showed you the compressed bump stop! The finishing touch was the front tucked and him showing specifically where a minor trim could be done. This is an amazing job for a stock JKUR. LCOG, Good clean look. I think they kicked ass. Helped me alot. Thanks guys!

This was a GREAT video. Did mine this weekend and after having watched this video about 4 or 5 times, I didn't even have to reference it during the process. It's actually really easy! To Steve R. below, this is a perfect option for those trying to save a couple bucks and get a quick custom look. It really is easy and cheap! What's it matter if you cut up your fenders or replace them? Thanks a ton for putting this video up! Very happy with mine for $36 instead of $380. Putting my 35's on tomorrow along with 3-1/2" Lift in another 2 weeks!

gotta say, always thought this was a hack job but yours look great! favoriting this video for when i get my new tires and need a trim. the fender savings alone damn near paid for the wheels!

great video.. very cool of you to take the time to share this. Motivated me - Im about half done with from fenders. Noticed my inner guard does not come as low as yours so drilling that new hole into the body to secure it from flapping is going to get tricky.. I'm not super handy but your vid made it seem so very easy i decided to give it a try. Worst case - i screw it up and have to buy aftermarket fender flares.

Just did the rears tonight. I went to Harbor Freight here in Vegas and picked up a pneumatic metal saw, got some Fine blades and i was good to go. Only problem i had was my porter cable 6lbs tank didn't have enough balls to keep up.

I personally would not have used normal spray paint. I would use bed liner for the wheel wells. It would do alot better than spray paint and would also allow for protection as well. But you did a great job.

Nice write up I stepped up to 37" thinking they would work from 35 now my fenders are in the way wife isn't too happy about me wanting to blow hundreds more on fenders plus I found many people selling stock fenders in CL for $150 they changed out their fenders with aftermarket. Even if you screw up you can get some in CL.

2012 has a new engine. It's a 3.6 instead of a 3.8. It is smoother and produces more power. If you can swing it, do it. If you are going to wheel it, get the Rubicon. Front and rear e-lockers make a nice addition. The transfer case is better for rock crawling and the electronic dis-connectable sway bar is nice too. I'm probably missing a few differences, but that's all I can think of other than wheels and tires. Well, the Rubicon has different gearing. 4.10 gears. That's nice. The 2012

I've been part of Jeep forums for a while now and I've never been of the diy chop fenders or the aftermarket ones. It looks weird having a huge gap and how you can see inside the fender well. It makes the jk loom cheap.

@CharlesCo91812 жыл бұрын
I have a manual. The gearing is totally different on a manual vs. auto. You'll feel more power on the six unless you regear the auto. 35's get your diff away from the rocks. It's all personal preference really. Just learn about the gearing differences.
@MidCali83112 жыл бұрын

@CharlesCo9189 жыл бұрын
firelou17 Hi, this was my friends Jeep, he got rid of it shortly after. So, we didn't get a chance to look into LED's. If you find something, post it! As far as the gap, I don't think you'll have any issues. A lot of aftermarket fenders completely remove it, which I don't think is wise. So, you've got plenty of coverage.

Cool vid man. Personally I would just go for the bushwackers. I know they're more expensive then this alternative but when you spend 35k on a Rubi do you really want to be cutting your fenders ? Plus this isn't that quick (or neat) of an install, the amount of time you spent fabricating your old fenders you could have had installed the wackers and had a nice seamless look.
@CharlesCo91810 жыл бұрын
I have Bushwackers. The guy who owned this Jeep got rid of it and bought a 4-Runner. We were just playing with it. It was a slow day and we had beer :-)
@enfieldm10 жыл бұрын
LOL. Your comment really doesn't make too much sense... "When you spend 35k on a Rubi do you really want to be cutting your fenders?" Hmmm... versus ripping off part of what I paid 35k for and replacing them with something that will cost another grand? Ummm.... Yes, yes I would. :) Plus, if you run a full width aftermarket bumper (OR-Fab full width winch bumper in my case), there are no aftermarket flat-style flares that line up nicely with the full width length like the OEM flare does. All the after market flares are tapered in to match up with a stubby bumper.
@albertl37765 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling the bushwackers would rub badly unless you add a lift.
