To get out of limp mode or not go faster the 43 mph.disconnect negative battery terminal then push on brake until it feels tight and could take a few times hook back up and it should clear.except check engine that you might need the reader.

My friend.. great video!! But.. Please don't ever let your calipers hang freely from the brake lines. Get a hanger or prop them on a control arm. That's really bad for the rubber lines and you risk damaging them.

I appreciate the video, but people should be aware of a few things. 1 - You need to tell people to remove the front brake pad sensor BEFORE removing the caliper so it doesn't snap and break. 2 - Install the sensor BEFORE putting the caliper back on the rotor so you can see what you're doing. It's infinitely easier. 3 - Hugely important - A 2020 Silverado 1500 LT 4wd v8 requires the 343mm front rotors. Autozone will tell you that the 330mm rotors and the 343mm are a perfect fit, but they're wrong. Only the 343mm fit for me. I installed the 330mm first and they seemed to install just fine, but when I tested the brakes the caliper was grinding on the rotor. I had to do this job all over again after getting the right part.

Also you have to put the truck in maintenance mode by holding down the parking brake button for 10-15 secs before you began job or you can fry the master cylinder module, speaking from experience.

I found the stock pads were pretty good, but rotors warped quickly on truck. Little to no anti squeal from factory which is why you have the same brake squeal that everyone seems to have. Decent caliper design, but definetly put anti squeal on next time you put the pad in and you won’t have an issue.

You just need to clean the dust out of that groove on the inside pad. The Pads and rotors you removed are still fine. Also when you remove the caliper. You should use a coathanger or haywire to tie it up so you don't damage the rubber/metal brake line. Otherwise good video.

I had the “service brake system” “esc” “traction control off” “43 mph max speed” on and I got worried. For me(I have a 2021 Silverado 1500 LT) and I did the front rotors and pads myself. I did not put it in service mode. I drove my truck for 20 minutes(not over 43 miles per hour) and it wouldn’t clear. Also, the brakes felt spongy when I depressed the brake pedal. I parked it and shut it off. I depressed the brake pedal and the start button and I held it for 35 seconds; I shut it off again and then waited 20 minutes before I turned it on again. It cleared everything and was braking fine.

This is all a sham. Dont do this on your own. At least the back brakes. Take it to a dealer. I’ve changed brakes 100 times and just did my cousins 2019 and we couldn’t get the rear calipers to retract we had to open the bleeder valve and spin them in. Then it went into limp mode cuz it’s saying the brakes are inoperable. My cousin ended up driving the truck home but he had to push it to the floor to just get a rolling stop. Gotta take it to the dealer now anyway. Probably saved no money at all or actually cost money by messing up the electronic system somehow.

I have been getting an error with mine since I bought the truck and still isn't working properly. I did some searching online and it sounds like a fairly common issue with these trucks, and there was a recall on it with some models I believe. I've heard if you take it to the dealer they can do it but its expensive, or with the right scanner you're able to do it as well.
@darrin3099

I was able to go to the brake pad screen and turn off the sensors or disable fairly easily , I believe you go to the screen then push and hold the button until it highlights the disable sensors and push it again, it may ask you if you are sure. The rotors will warp long before the pads wear out which is pretty pathetic as my truck has only 40000 kms.
@darrin3099
@darrin3099 11 ай бұрын
Update : you will see options on the brake pad screen ,press and hold it until the options come up and then disable wear sensors. However, while changing the back brakes the inside of the rotors were shot and inside pads worn down to almost metal. 40,000kms on truck. I believe the inside gets exposed to more crap that doesn't get washed off (I wash truck very often) and the cheap rotors pitted and delaminated (chunks missing) which took out the pads. I could be wrong. Also the bolts holding the pad /pin /caliper brackets will fight you all the way out, mine had red locktite on them from the factory and had to use breaker bar just to slightly loosen them. If you can get an impact gun in there you will be happier, I just had ratchet tools. Good Luck
