Yeah, I've just spent 1 hour messing with the screws and now my front derailleur is rubbing constantly and I haven't even figured out which limiter is which and how it works😅 I thought it would be similar to the rear derailleur, but I just can't see anything no matter what I do

Look at the front derailleur screws. There should be tiny letters “L and H” somewhere on the side. If you screw in the low limit the derailleur moves out toward you. The chain will start rubbing on the inner plate of the front derailleur the more the low limit is tightened. The high limit only works when the front derailleur is set on the next gear. You use your left shifter to set the derailleur to the next gear. Then, when the high limit is tightened the derailleur moves away from you inwardly. Eventually the chain will rub in the outer plate of the derailleur as you tighten the screw more and more.

@@Henryisvegan Thank you🙂 I think I've now figured out which one is which but there might be something else going on because even with what I think is the H limiter completely loose it still wouldn't shift to the highest gear. The cable is tight enough, too. Luckily I can get the bike serviced for free so if I don't figure it out it's not a big deal.

@@matejblaha4659 The cable is tight but maybe your shifter is in the next gear. If your shifter is in the next gear and the chain and front derailleur is still on the previous gear then your front derailleur won’t work properly if that makes sense.

@@Henryisvegan I mean if I move my front derailleur to the third gear while my chain is in the second, the cable is really tight but the chain still doesn't move to the third gear because the box that should move it is not aligned in the correct position despite the chain being really tight. Does that make sense?

Hi, I'm trying to fix my front derailleur cause in low gear (1st) it keeps rubbing on the chain. I tried unscrewing the L limit screw but unfortunately so because the derailleur touches the bike frame and it can't go further. Any fixing ideas?? Thanks a lot!

Is the front derailleur height in the correct position? Is the front derailleur aligned with the chainrings?

@Henryisvegan Well I took it to the bike shop and we put a wider bottom bracket and problem solved! The chainrings just needed to come out a bit and now it's all good
