Front outside door handle replacement (2001-2007 Ford Escape)

Thank you Grease Monkey! Excellent tutorial for fixing and replacing the door handle. I broke the latch-lock assembly 4 years ago and finally was able to find the part. Instructions between written and demonstration was great! I finally can open my door like a normal person instead of going through the back door to open the driver door from the inside door handle. Everything you demonstrated was exact, except I had a cover over part of the latch-lock assembly and latch actuator rod. It was a difficult to get off (only because of lack of access), but once this was gone the rest was a piece of cake and fast do to your tutorial. Last week I found your tutorials for the Ford Escape after I replaced the driver rear view mirror. This was also excellent and so easy to change!

I have a 2007 Escape XLT and the inside of the door housing contains some kind of cowling that covers the actuator and lock mechanism. Like a black plastic cowling. How do I get access to the actuator properly with that in the way? You seem to be saying that you also have that cover/cowling, so how did you get it out of the way or remove it safely?

Grease Monkey...Do you have any vids on Outside REAR Door handle or Mechanism issue...both my rear doors are inoperable...the Handles dont "engage" to pull the Latches open...thanks nics Vids...(2005 Ford Escape)

Emily Hampton Use a Torx 27 and take the latch out.
