Nice to see a video of a guy doing it like the average guy would. No fully equipped shop, no lift, looks like the average guy doing it in your driveway or garage

Super good video man. When you were driving out the bolts that are pressed in place, I have seen a guy use an air hammer with a blunt pointed end bit to drive them out too. (But an 8# hammer takes seconds.)

I just don't understand how this can possibly be this easy and cost sooooo much at a shop
@barricadegarage53615 жыл бұрын
The shop is a buisness so your not just paying for labor, your paying cost of supplies, overhead and they have employee's that need to be paid and rent due along with equipment cost on top of the fact they need to make a profit to stay in buisness. The last thing on their mind when you show up is how much money you feel is fair for repairs. Thats just the nature of the beast and prices are just going to increase which is why I share some of what I know to help people out

Good video. What are you thoughts on that Daytona jack?
@barricadegarage53615 жыл бұрын
Midnights & Mornings Ive only had it for about 2 months but Its heavy as hell and the foot pump is useless when under load. other than that its a good Jack

@@barricadegarage5361 Thanks for answering that question because we were considering getting one, but to have to pick it up each time we have to take it out of the truck WOULD SUCK!!
@barricadegarage53615 жыл бұрын
Astral Auto Repairs Its a great Jack and its well made and feels more solid than the average 3 ton Jack. The main reason I got it was because its maximum lift height is 24 inches compared to the 18 inch maximum lift height of my old 3 ton floor jack from harbor freight. Its also low profile which I needed after trying to get my last jack under my cousins bmw, and the long reach allows to to easily reach the crossmember of most cars to lift the entire front end or rear end so im not jacking up one side at a time... however this Jack has a foot pump that will let you raise the jack without pumping the handle if your in a tight spot but as soon as you reach the jacking point it becomes useless because you wont be heavy enough to push the foot pump down with your own weight.. and I think this thing is 101 lbs which didnt sound like much but its long and akward and after pulling it on and off a box truck or service vehichle a few times it becomes clear that this Jack is supposed to be a garage queen. I love it tho and I think the good outweighs the bad and that extra lift height is just what I need especially since I tend to work on lifted vehichles

I was going to comment on this also. Usually, it is recommended to re-install the bolts the same direction they came out. I wonder why that is, or if it even matters? Coincidently, I watched another video later (from 1A Auto) and on their Impala, the bolts were "backwards", IE, the nuts were on the end opposite where the caliper is. Maybe the factory finally wised up and put them in that way, so we're not risking hitting the caliper when we hammer out the bolts. Or perhaps their car had already had its struts changed and the bolts were installed backwards. Anyway, I recently replaced the REAR struts on my Impala and for those, I had to remove the caliper and secure it up and out of the way. There was NO room to hammer out the bolts with the caliper in the way. Reversing the bolts would have been a big timesaver.

Everything looked good up until I saw you put strut bolts at the spindle in the opposite way than u took them out. Now I'm guess that it doesn't matter which way the those bolts are installed. 👍🏽 just a lil observation. Great video though
