@ I've seen many instances where the top coats let go, but the etch primer remains intact. While that is a paint system failure, the etch primer saved the substrate. I'd have to check but I'm reasonably certain the primer and top coats were all dupli-color.

Jumping Tuna Gingium is another good channel to watch too. He has some pretty interesting builds, like: A school bus that he converted into a sort of RV, that he uses to tow his other vehicles. A Mazda B2200 pickup that he lowered, replaced the stock suspension with a custom four-link and coilovers, and swapped a 1UZ-FE V8 into. He has that setup as a drift truck. A Miata that he has setup as a track toy. He’s planning on swapping in a built 1.8L making 500 hp into it. He calls it Molly. Another Miata (his most recent ongoing project) that he calls the Rally Miata. Or the Rallyata. He cut off the front end and replaced it with a custom tube framework, to make room for the built WRX motor (EJ205) and AWD system. Yes, an AWD, boxer engined, lifted Miata. He’s even painted it World Rally Blue. An Audi A4 that he’s helping his friend build. Converted to RWD, as it’s gonna be set up as a drift car. A Miata-based exocart that he’s helping his other friend build. A Miata-engined Datsun Roadster that he’s been working on with his dad (aptly named, the Dad-son)

Ron, your work is second to none! I have owned two Fiero’s. I bought an almost new ‘85 2M4 in ‘86 (which really did catch on fire TWO DAYS. Before I got the recall notice), and a 1986 GT (which I wish I still owned). To watch you restore this near bottom of the line model with so much love and attention to detail warms my heart. I truly commend you, and I am so excited to see the finished car. When you are done, you will have a show quality version of this 1980’s beaut. I know with absolute certainty that you will have a long list of people wanting to buy it, and I can’t wait to see what you restore next! You might just have inadvertently started a long career of automomotive restoration. Good for you, bravo kid!

I would love to see a movie/documentary style edit where its basically all episodes put into one or two very long episodes. Might not be worth the time speaking at how it may not do so well because of it's length, the way you edit your videos is very very relaxing, plus you always throw in that spoof of suspense, in this case with the sponsorship type deal with Eastwood.

Episode 5 was served up to me today, so I went to the beginning. It is nice to see an old car being brought to life. I helped my dad rebuild the engine of his 83 Toyota Corolla. Someone he lent it to ran it without proper oil levels and it threw a rod and put a hole in the block. 1994 (12 years old) I learned a good bit. In 1999 I bought, for $500, an 85 Dodge Daytona. I went a different route. With the Chilton manual and a Dodge maintenance manual (huge) I tore the whole thing down, all the way to the frame and over a year, I graduated high school early, quit my job and started in on completely rebuilding the thing. My father helped with the parts that needed two people, and the only help he gave when I asked questions, "What did the book say?" "What do you think they meant?" Las Vegas had a "pick-a-part" yard so I had access to everything I needed. Another $600 later and that year, plus a couple months, I had a fully restored car, looking, sounding and running like it rolled off the assembly line. Six years later, it bottomed out (Las Vegas is notorious for bad streets) and the oil pan split open. I didn't know it for another two blocks before a loud couple bangs. It threw two rods, out a hole in the block and a head seized in a cylinder. I left it at my father's since apartment complexes here don't let you work on cars in their lots and prefer the cars to be seen moved once in a while. It took another four months to get a replacement block and various parts. The day I arrived with the block, the car was gone. My father gave it (GAVE IT) away to a dude and his son as a project car. I left the block in his driveway. I didn't speak to him for another 15 years.

They say Millennials aren't into cars much....even more so ones that can drive a manual transmission. I have to say I was never a real fan of the Iron Duke, but then again the one in my father's '88 Grand Am had 215K miles on the clock when he traded it in. I love how you are showing so much love to a car that was semi-unloved in its day. Though I would have uprated the suspension personally, I like how you are basically keeping it stock and not trying to make it much more than it always was. You are a good storyteller keep it up!

Thank you Ronald. Been waiting for this. Nice to see what anyone with a little imagination can accomplish. Now, with that said. You need a paint sponsor for the final finish. 😁👍

So much work and toil for this project. This is going to be an epic vehicle when you're done.

You're doing a great job on that car. With new bushings and shocks, it should drive like brand new. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the work.

Dude I'm loving this series. It's inspired me to get started on my own restoration project, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee!

One thing I think you should start using is a spray can rust converter on things you clean up with a wire brush like the sub frame. Both M3 and CRC have good ones that are made to be primed and painted over. These chemically change the light rust and that stops it from rusting more.

You make me at peace Ronnie ! I hope I can do something like that in the future. Althought, I have very little experience in cars, I ve dreamed of restoring a e39 BMW, these always catch my eye on the road. Maybe someday, but now, just thank you man!

Hey Ronald, just wanted to let you know you've totally inspired me. I'm currently working on a 1995 Dodge Stealth R/T in Caracas Red. I'm just a 22 year old guy. I don't know too terribly much about cars mechanically. But you've really helped me want to learn. I really look forward to your videos and honestly they're so fantastic. I wish you all the best! You've got a big fan rootin' for ya.
