Front Window Regulator Removal BMW E34 525i 535i M5

Hello, the video is very useful. In my case, the window stuck in the closed position does not move down, even manually. When I push the button I hear how the motor energizes but it does not rotate. I tried manually to push the mechanism but had no success. At the end of the worm gear 1/4 female square drive, I believed it was for manual intervention. I tried to from it but again had no success. My question is, is there any trick to unlock the window from its position without removing the whole mechanism? I am thinking that if I could move a window even half of an inch down, maybe the mechanism will work.

Hello, I removed the door card and started to drill out the rivets. When I removed 3 rivets, the mechanism released and the window started to move! The problem is solved!

Do you need to take the door off the car entirely to do this or can you just remove the panel?

If you punch out the center of the rivets it will drill out much easier. The center of the rivets are hardened.

What size drill bits did you use?

My window goes down but it struggles to come back up. When I took a look at it the sliders were broken. Do I have to remove the rivet bolts to put new sliders on?

chopemup2 Don't think you have to remove rivets, replacing plastic holders would be all you need to replace.

+bimmermerchant I think you need to remove the rivets because its hard to get to the plastic slider bushings without removing the rivets.

first of all, this is really helpful, and I definitely appreciate it, I'm not really very good at this stuff, and my window crapped out a little bit back, so this helped me get it PARTIALLY fixed, but.....I was wondering how to take off the window motor. I know there's 3 screws attaching it to the regulator, but one of them is covered by the gear, and I don't know how the HELL I'm supposed to get to it. I guess I can just order a combo piece, but I've already got the new motor, so.....anyway, any help would be very much appreciated-I'm about to the point of 'fixing' it with a hammer >.

+ramiel555 You made a great point. That is one main reason why we sell the regulator with motor complete because removing motor from regulator is not a simple process because of all the gears inside the motor. Our best recommendation would be returning motor you bought and buying a complete unit. Even if you are able to install the motor, it won't work the same and break within a couple weeks.
