Excellent. I see this train everyday during my commute - now I know a lot more about it!

Hartsfield Airport is such an astonishing maze. But still beautiful

With it’s five parallel runways and easy connecting concourses, Atlanta’s airport is the gold standard of a hub airport.

Thank you for this and including the train announcements. I haven't traveled out of ATL in years so this alleviates so much anxiety.

Fantastic video! I've never understood why Atlanta airport is busier than JFK, LAX, or O'Hare? Its not as important a place as those surely?
@banksrail Жыл бұрын
It’s Delta Airline’s largest hub and also one of the largest airports in the world. That’s why.

@@banksrail Very true! My point though is that the city itself is not in the same league as other American cities like NY, LA, and Chicago.
@banksrail Жыл бұрын
@@lechiffre1914When considering that it’s the only major airport for the city compared to how every other city you just mentioned has at least 2 or 3 than it makes sense why the airport is so busy.

@@banksrail Fair enough! I suppose it just seemed odd that the airports for the 3 biggest US cities I mentioned aren't as busy as the airport for the 39th biggest city!

Interesting, only one station at the airport itself? Do you have to walk to all the other gates? Looks like pretty good distance?

There is a second APM that goes between the airport terminals
@tf51d Жыл бұрын
@@SparenofIria Thanks that makes more sense, though a little inconvenient but I can see they really had no choice because of the way the terminals are situated, surrounded by the active taxi ways and runways!

I’ve never had need to use the Sky Train. I am astounded at the huge amount of parking that this airport (and I’m sure other) has. Lots of land dedicated to holding empty automobiles. Rather wasteful and poor land use management.
@neilaxelrod5872 Жыл бұрын
What a silly comment. Do you realize that there are two multi-level parking decks as well for daily and hourly parking? And all of this has been here for decades. And the MARTA rapid rail system comes right into the terminal. It’s the world’s busiest airport and has been for decades, sitting on the same footprint. So not sure what wondrous improvements you’d make. Maybe some solar panels or windmills on the site of the parking lots? 🙄

@@neilaxelrod5872 Having lived 2 miles from the airport for 34 yrs, until moving downtown in 2016, I’m well aware of land use issues surrounding the airport, as well as traffic and parking. Sadly America devotes extreme amounts of land to parking cars, when there are other alternatives. When one examines how access to airports and land use are studied, mega parking lots are not seen as the best solutions. Do some study before you jump in to criticize.

@@neilaxelrod5872 well that makes two. Your comment is silly to a response which you think is silly. That’s why Atlanta continues to go downhill.

@@brucewilkinson8599 it’s not going downhill because of me, and I live in the suburbs. I’m not the one commenting on KZbin videos about the planning of parking lots that have been there for many years.
