The time has come for the rear coolant hose to let itself go.. It's absolutely at the worst place possible, almost right at the firewall, but under the intake manifold and right next to the exhaust manifold (yes, on these engines both are on the same side). It is simply old, and the heat did its job too.
I'll replace those 2 rear hoses today, one of them started leaking quite badly, so it has to go.
PS: If you are in a hurry, and dont have any replacement at hand, you can qiuck fix it, just to get home, or if you need to drive the car urgently. Just take off both of the hoses, inspect them, then take the better one and just "connect it onto itself" (on both places on the engine side). You will eliminate the heater core, so you wont have heating, but you also need one less hose, so the engine can function, and you wont have any leaks or overheating. You'll have the car ready to go untill you fix it right 👋
