My Backhoe digs down 19 Feet. Is that overkill Just kidding my friend. That front Hoe. Love the ditch you dug. I have to do an 18 inch deep Electric bury conduit ditch. My 2 foot bucket is so large. Like you said the plan out of what job you need for work. I'm having to do a lot of thinking on where I place spil pile. To not mess up my gravel.

Back in 2018 was able to get a 260 added to my 1025r for around $6,500 install and taxes included. At the time wasn’t sure the 260 was going to be available with 260B coming out. When the dealer said they could still get a 260 for my older tractor I ended up getting it. Once it arrived at the dealer they took about 2 to 3 days to install everything. Fun with the little 260 it was a little reminder of the days when dad would be digging for phone companies with the 410 John Deere’s. Had fun digging with the 410 when I could and enjoyed the 260 just as much. A lot of the digging jobs the 260 had done for me there was no way the stump bucket would have worked. The trenches I dug needed to be deeper. A more major dig I had to do was dig out a busted water hydrant in dad’s shed. For storing the backhoe I tell people I ordered up the storage cart from bxpanded and how it’s been a great buy. Easy to push the backhoe into the corner in my shed and also roll it up to the tractor to hook it up. For my snow pushing needs the backhoe also seemed to be better rear ballast than the ballast box I got with 1025r new, actually haven’t used the box since I got the backhoe.

Hey Courtney - This looks like a versatile bucket at a relatively inexpensive price. IMHO if any subcompact tractor owner feels they want a backhoe and think they will use it, they should get it. Yes it is one of the most expensive options but I would rather "Enjoy the Ride" of using my 260b backhoe than be limited to working on a project within the 1-2 day timeframe of a rental. I can plug along on projects at my leisure with my backhoe not to mention the versatility of the projects you can perform with it. No planning - no waiting for delivery of equipment - no 2nd rental because a project wasn't finished in time... Jump on it and go whenever you want - After all the whole idea of owning a small tractor is having fun playing with it, No? You can rent bigger equipment - a bunch of times for the cost of a new 1025r tractor - Again it's all about the journey... Love your channel by the way - Great videos - Great information... Thank you...

Thank you for showing the Pro & Con of front versus Rear. YES the front knocking down your EYES. That's why companies make a Level front bucket indicator. I saw an old ( AC promo video) for large cross open space pipeline jobs. The boom backfill (Drag line type) back blade bucket attachment that (AC) design looked like a great idea for the time. Instead of forward and back with the tractor to backfill long ditches. This drag blade just worked fast. This was probably in the late 60s. It was a great idea based on the side boom Pipe holders support systems they still use today. I'm thinking on a small tractor backhoe today that boom would not be feasible.

I bought a GWT front digger because of it's versatility and its easy to switch out for another implement. Dig up that small tree/stump, switch to a grapple and haul it out of the woods. I also bought a small excavator because I have a lot of small digging projects to do in the next 4-5 yrs. A friend told me to take that $8000.00+ and use it for a down payment on a mini excavator. Yes I paid 4-5 times what the backhoe costs but the work it can do runs circles around a backhoe, especially in my hard rocky soil. Keep it clean and maintained, and I'll get most if not all my money back when it comes time to sell. Your advise on renting a small excavator is spot on, way cheaper if you only have a few jobs to do and can't see the need for one long term.

I'm thinking I need both - I wouldn't be able to get a mini excavator easily to a large portion of my property (63 acres) - so my backhoe was well worth it. But the stump bucket looks awesome and I think I'll be placing an order for a my 2025r. Thanks so much !

BH...I got my 1026R for the BH. About 300 hours on it and 300 for everything else. Is what I use as ballast as well. I think the fact that is always on with my loader makes it ready to use for any job. Only used the 3 point one summer for a sprayer. Ability to use it anytime for friends and family and myself is priceless. I don't farm so when I see the amount of attachments others get along with the Summit diverters, Land Plane, tiller, MCS...etc easily adds up to my BH...Plus a ballast box and weights and filling tires. I have never had the need for that...and I do have some steep parts to my property including a driveway that is straight down...Never had the need for more traction...I did groove my tires tho which made my R4's much better in the snow. I never intended to use anything but the BH...was never going to mow or plow snow on my steep drive...but it turned out to do both jobs so well , I use it for that too.

I like the videos where you rank on the backhoe, they're amusing. I like the backhoe because it looks cool on the tractor, looks a little more complete, even balanced if you will. I agree 100% about usefulness, rent/or buy a mini excavator, WAY more practical in every way. Not having to constantly setup and reset is something you never understand until you actually have to do it. It gets old real fast. The only downside to a mini is another piece of equipment to maintain though. A backhoe attachment doesn't require much besides a few grease fittings, and maybe a blown hose once in a great while. An excavator is a whole other machine to maintain.

Keeping the 3 point arms on with the backhoe on was a big part of my decision to go with a Massey Ferguson GC1723 EB. For me, the backhoe was a necessity. Trying to sig with a front hoe here in NEPA doesn't work very well because of all of the rocks. I however appreciate the time you have in on the design of your bucket.

I totally agree with you. I thought about getting the backhoe but in all reality, yes, you use it for a couple jobs then it will sit and not be used. Renting a Mini Excavator is not breaking the bank account. I have been looking around for a front hoe bucket like this to use on my 3039R for a while now. Not much around my area. Every bucket we've sent out has included an extra AR400 steel edge. We included the softer edges since they were already cut, but the harder steel solves that problem. Regarding tree size, I've dug out a couple 8-9" diameter trees. Many factors determine what size tree you can remove.

I bought my 1025R with a backhoe. It's one of the most fun attachments. But it does sometimes sit for a month or more and the price of a backhoe certainly would rent a lot of mini excavators. One of the biggest issues I have with the backhoe is when it's not on the tractor. The subframe really hurts ground clearance which is already low. It lowers ground clearance on larger tractors too but it's definitely exacerbated on the sub compacts. If I had a need for a larger tractor I certainly could've gotten a much larger one for the same price as the 1025R with the backhoe. And for anyone thinking you can remove stumps with a backhoe, you certainly can but you might be surprised at how large of a hole you end up with by the time you're done, at least with larger stumps. Overall I'm happy to have the backhoe, the freedom to use it when I want or need to is great. It's not perfect, any tractor backhoe is a compromise but if I need to dig something it's really convenient to have.

Just a thought here, What is the possible chance of making the rear hoe a extend a hoe. That change came about in the seventies and it made a big change in how hoes were used. I live in the center of the big valley of California and hoes are used a lot in this area. A small extend a hoe might have a lot of advantages over a large one.

I'm planning on getting my first tractor for a 10 acre tract that I just bought. I'm pretty much set on the Deere 1025r. Here's my question: if I don't get the Backhoe, I'll need the ballast system. Would the weight of the Backhoe make up for the ballast system and if so, why wouldn't I get the Backhoe, use it for the weight distribution and the occasional job the would require a Backhoe? It seems like I'd get multiple uses out of the Backhoe but only 1 with the ballast system.

@@biggamehunter9138 I bought my tractor without the Backhoe. I decided that I'd use the Backhoe minimally and I put that savings toward other implements like a Tiller and box blade, both of which I can use to offset the weight.

I bought a new 1025r in March with the factory installed backhoe, price was less than $5k more than a machine without when quoted by the same dealer at the same time. I’m sure prices fluctuate but right now the factory installed MSRP of a 260b on a 1925r is $6,938.

Any time I've ever had any new tractor quoted, I've had different prices from every dealer. There is no set price. It will vary all over the board. There are many ways costs and margins are estimated and calculated. Also, Deere's internal system is really bad about providing accurate labor to complete entire projects. Some dealers go off what the system says, others don't. Point being, there's lots of variables.

Just my personal opinion, the stump bucket is much more versatile, convenient and makes more financial sense. If I NEED a backhoe, I'd call my buddy or rent one. A backhoe would propably die of lonliness at my place.

The backhoe discussion was a hard one for me, it was $9500. You'll use it about 100 times in situations you'd never rent equipment. You start using it for simple things, that's what's nice about having it. But I did a job digging irrigation canals in a field, 1500 feet, it took me 2 days, should have rented a trencher, he actually complained they were too deep, this trench bucket could have cut the time in half I think, worked better in every way, my philosophy on lots of stuff, why not both?

The only downside I have with your product is the stock availability. I.E. my best friend ordered a stump bucket after I paid and ordered mine. I have been forced to borrow his due to the extremely long lead time on your product. I understand you want to pay set ups to manufacture the stump bucket once rather than many times to keep the manufacturing price low.. But perhaps a higher price for a faster availability would benefit here. I'm looking at a 2 month wait time. In northern Michigan if I wait to get your bucket most of my workable summer is gone. Thankfully I have a good friend who allowed me to use his before he even used it himself. Yes he paid about $250 more. Is it built better than yours? I guess we will see towards the end of May. Thanks

I decided I'd rather have a box blade than a backhoe and saved a lot of $. Are there times I'd like to have one? Sure. But not $6,500 worth of reasons. That, and I have two neighbors with "real" exvcavators who can be bought with $15 in swordfish steaks on the grille and $24 of micro-brewery beer on the back deck. Just as my time is available for food and drink. It's great to have good neighbors. My sub-soiler was on loan for two weeks this spring and in exchange I may ask to borrow a Cat-1 tiller next spring. Like a local co-op. Survivalists be damned - get friendly with your neighbors and you are in tall cotton.

So it’s great you wanted to talk price and noted the date but you really should have added the whole front loader and given 3 prices. Just my $0.02, yea I know this makes me the grump that’s not happy but I look at it as getting closer to apples to apples instead of cherries and grapefruit.
@GoodWorksTractors

I disagree. You buy a loader to use a bucket, forks, grapple, bale spear, snow pusher, stump bucket, etc. You buy the loader for the incredible versatility it offers and probably bought one without thinking about getting a stump bucket. The fronthoe is just the bucket attachment itself. You buy the entire backhoe or nothing at all. 90%+ of subcompact tractors are sold with front end loaders. So it's an easy way to increase the value and versatility of the front end loader that most have already invested in.
@ReinQuest
@ReinQuest 3 жыл бұрын
@@GoodWorksTractors My point is just that your stump bucket is a $600-800 bucket. Without a loader and the accessories to attach it and it doesn’t work just because you buy a bucket. The people you need to sell this point to probably don’t own the tractor yet. So they’re looking at: -Tractor, loader assembly, blast box, quick attach(?), stump bucket, misc accessories Versus -Tractor, loader assembly, backhoe, misc accessories My guess is that 90% of people who find this video because they’re searching for it are asking “what they need to do....”. I’m just here because I watch too much GWT, TTWT, and Messick’s dreaming about future accessories. Maybe I’m wrong, this is just how I view the comparison videos like this one. I’m thinking of the target audience and what questions they would have.

@@tracksoneverything4085 I disagree because that bucket is useless without the loader. If the loader wasn’t considered an accessory. When I was searching for tools to do stump removal I wanted to know if it was going to cost $26,000 or $32,000. Or I guess if it’s Green maybe $36,000. And if the $26,000 tool could do the job.

@@GoodWorksTractors I agree with you. Start out assuming you have a tractor with loader or are buying a tractor with loader, and want something to do similar jobs, trenching, stump removal, etc. Don't see a reason to add the loader cost to the comparison and also can't imagine someone getting a tractor without a loader and wanting a backhoe. Makes no sense to me. But to each their own.

Is it just me or is anyone else disappointed with the ability of their 1025r? Don't get me wrong I live the tractor but just seems like some time I try to do something simple like pull a small bush or tree out of the ground with the heavy hitch tooth bar attached to the bucket and it just doesn't want to do it. Then I get on the forums and I see people claiming to clear and entire property with the thing, digging, leveling, removing tree and stumps much larger than I would ever attempt. I think to myself is my machine not right. How are these people doing this. Any suggestions on what to look at?

Gosh!!….. so sorry to have to say, any front bucket addition/adaptation can’t be compared to a “backhoe”, or anything near it. Why would you even suggest it?? Both dig up roots but only one can dig a hole etc. You have posted many great informative vids but this sure isn’t one of them. I will now swerve you totally as your “selling oriented posts” have moved greatly into the ‘free’ advertising emphasis of your business :-(. Is this what KZbin, Google and wiki is for?….. Huh, I thought it was for information so ‘we’ could gain from the knowledge of others to see what’s out there to fit our needs…… Thus ultimately create sales eventually surely? I am actually disappointed but will look elsewhere for my constant tractor attachment tips from now on. Baz.
