*Blueberries, native to North America, have been part of life here for 13,000 years. The first highbush blueberry bush was successfully cultivated for commercial production in the early 1900s. Although the first cultivated crop of blueberries was not successfully grown until 1912, they were an important source of food for Native Americans for thousands of years prior. Blueberries keep longer in storage than many other similar berries, making them an important forage crop that Native Americans dried and stored for winter. They were eaten fresh when in season and incorporated into a variety of basic stews and other food combinations. In addition, Native American use of Vaccinium species for medical purposes was widespread, including the use of roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits in various preparations.* *In many ways, Native Americans directly influenced the development of modern blueberry varieties by passing on knowledge about edible use of the berries, growth habit and the occurrence of blueberry shrubs, and other information to European immigrants.*

Justine and Ron, in a time long gone, were eating a chicken pie, "Justine," said Ron and then went on, releasing a puzzled sigh, "Your cooking's fine. Your food divine. But one thing I can't see, the reason for this cocoa taste that's in my cup o' tea."

My family came to Missouri in 1825 to Homestead. They settled in Franklin and Jefferson counties. They arrived in Jamestown March 6th, 1700. They were Huguenot. Now I'm starving. The meal looked fabulous.
@micheleparker8553 Жыл бұрын
So cool! I’m descended from French Huguenots too. They arrived in America in the 1700’s also. They were granted land in Pennsylvania by William Penn’s son. They had fled Paris France and went to Germany first, because King Louis the 14th revoked the peace treaty with them , and began to slaughter many Huguenots. Some of my ancestors were martyred for their faith. Anyway, thank you for sharing! Thank you Justine and Ron for demonstrating the way of life for Huguenots who first arrived in America! It’s very fascinating. ❤️

You two are so delightful. Can you tell that I am totally smitten? Ron, I am a living historian of over 40 years. I interpreted 18th, 19th, and 20th Centuries. I had one of our unit members make a 1861-1865 drum for my son who was at the time smaller than the drum he carried. Your drum is well made and I cannot wait to hear it played. Justine, you my dear have made it. Only the lady of ladies have such a fine tea service. Tea time is a whole culture into itself. You can look it up in a book (smile). I hope your day is as good as you both make mine by bringing your programs to life. God Bless and keep you both.

I believe that gout did not become prevalent in the west until sugar hit the market and became cheap enough for the masses to afford. Prior to that, it was only accessible to the wealthy, and so they were the only ones experiencing gout to begin with. Fat is fuel that the human body is designed to primarily live on (be our main energy source). It was the addition of sugar that really began messing up our digestive tracts. Now sugar is put in almost everything as a preservative.
