Great to see you on YT dude. Twitch lurker here. I do a ton of mage farming, sometimes duo. Slave Pens, SLABs, etc. Really interested in your farm research. Here's a question: I had some success duo farming Kara trash. Every think to test xp gains in some of our TBC raids? Kara, maybe at 72 or 73 to make it soloable.

I was able to do it finally at lvl 71 in booster gear. Hella difficult but when I got the hang of it man it felt so rewarding. It does seem like fire is easier, but frost is cool and if it's possible I don't always mind the challenge lol. Thanks for the video showing it's possible!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Blizz said they are implementing changes into 5-man dungeons (this will include WotLK dungeons) that will make it so mages can't infinite kite anymore.

tried this as a fire mage, they added more mobs in random places to make it much harder to do. there are 2 extra mobs in the starting hall way compared to any video i see on here

Just do it as fire I'm already lvl 78. It's easy if you're not an engineer or have the best gear. Fire is just easier. I love frost but in this situation living bomb is the way.

I do hope they don't include the slow immunity, it just takes the identity of the mage class away. Adding the XP nerf if the level difference is too high makes sense to stop boosting, but the slow immunity makes no sense compared to that.

@@jorndorkewitz1951 yes i play actively. If mobs lower lvl than you i mean gray no exp worthy, they will gain slow immunity after 30 sec and speed buff after 60 sec. That applies only for dungeons not openn world. Also doesnt matter if there is lowbies or not in the grp

I know this is extremely late, but it’s a “clearcasting proc” early in the arcane talent tree it makes it so you have a certain % chance to cast a spell without it costing mana.

You could still potentially 2 mage this, use slows only after all are gathered, blow it up fast enough, if not fast enough root for a short time to finish? just a theory

@@joshuarindahl8399 ​there are tons of ways out right now and the only way to fix this farm is with fixing the fire walls not disappearing untill the firewall mob is downed at all: 1.) blizzard slow kiting 2.) zanza 120% run while mobs running at 115% 3.) blink glyphe(+5yards blink range) what is available with pre patch -> blink on cd will bring you enough range to kite those mobs untill they are down this will be the hardest option of all but still viable enough tho 4.) duo mage with timed frostnovas to get range 5.) hunter duo to have 30% movement speed permanently some people just have

It would be "tough" but definitely possible to do in greens, assuming the kiting nerfs don't already mitigate it. In the case of doing this in greens, you would want to run the Mage Armor glyph for additional mana regeneration. You would pull with frost armor on and immediately switch to mage armor for the kill phase. Veins and blizzard to dump mana until low. Snap Water Elemental and then pet nova + evocate to regain majority of mana, veins again and dump, then gem and mobs should be dying by that point or close to it. If too oom for blizzard, nova and position yourself to CoC just before nova expires to give yourself Mp5 ticks. Might get a little ugly, but I did ZF starting at 32 and SP starting at 58 without even any AH greens so its probably not too bad, especially considering with gear he's killing in ~2.5 minutes. There are some BoE blues and early WOTLK questing greens that outclass MOST tbc gear that would trivialize this as well (Skein Woven Mantle, for example) Also, keep in mind that becuse this is 3.3.5a talents and stat weighting that Spirit will see a lot more utility than it would have otherwise in WOTLK, so pieces with spirit will often be better than those with hit, at least while levelling and doing 5 man content since they will decrease your downtime between pulls, especially when you factor in the amount of crit that you can gain from spirit with glyphed molten armor.

​@@dennisbliek60 I mean you chose that class tho. Paladins can still do it, you gonna cry about them, too? Warlocks and hunters have also been doing solo slave pens grinds. Warriors, druids, paladins have been doing solo UK boosting strats on beta. I don't think the way they have implemented this "fix" to boosting is going to prevent boosting from working because they attacked mages almost exclusively which means the boosters will just switch what class they are using to boost. They needed to nerf xp while in group with a player higher level.

That’s part of the reason the mage farming nerf is so stupid. If you nerf mages’ ability to slow and kite mobs, then you have to nerf warrior revenge and warlock siphon life. Pretty soon you’re just nerfing anything that’s fun in the game. But no, the boomer 5% of the population that enjoys leveling whined enough on Reddit and blizzard listened to them

just nerf mob mechanics and leave every class as it is. perhaps make mobs immune to snare effects, have them reset faster when jumping across ledges without any interaction or something along those lines. and no, it's not because boomers want everyone to go through the pain of slow leveling, it's just that boosting has become an abomination in wow. another solution in my opinion would be to change exp gains for lower level players when a high level is doing all the damage, which apparently they plan on doing. that would at least fix the boosting issue. I don't have a problem with people aoe grinding for themselves alone or together with friends of the same level, but boosting is fucking cancer.

No other classes can do this farm in 2 minutes. Lol warlocks, pallies, warriors, etc can all farm these mobs solo but it takes them 10+ minutes per reset.

Is downranking no longer a thing in WOTLK for Mages? Mana Gem giving 65% more is big, but that seems like a huge blow. Love the Rocket Boots + Mage combo. From a visual perspective, this run is interesting/weird to watch compared to say Maradon. (almost a little bit confusing? Maradon is so much longer and almost tells a story as you are boosting it, this is more of just a meat grinder) Combining this method with an outdoor mob farm seems like the play. I'm OK with this being (relatively) unnerfed, since they are already nerfing XP with a high level member in the group. I'm sad about my Stratholme boost going away, but if a pro Mage wants to solo level 30% faster than dungeon spam, have at it.

This + the warr/druid/pally farms that people see going on Beta will likely NOT be viable on release. Mage dies due to new snare changes. All 3 tank solo farms are likely going to die due to avoidance DR not scaling properly on Beta. But the more people in dungeons trying to solo due to videos like these the better for those questing I suppose :D I personally loved mages doing silly things like this, but I suppose the boosting has gotten a bit out of hand.

They should just leave this alone as it's clear other classes can do the same farm or a even better version of it. If a mage is solo anywhere, dungeon or the open world none of the snare immunity's should apply. Absolutely destroying the class and the one of the main reasons i play the game.
