I am pretty sure Ryu's feet are numb to pain considering how much time he's been barefoot. Maybe that's why his feet don't burn in the Netherrealm.

If I had one complaint with this battle, it’d be that it came too early. Had this come out after MKX but before MK11, when Scorpion had regained his humanity and became Hanzo Hasashi again, the battle could’ve been much closer. I don’t remember if Hanzo could grow in power in the NetherRealm after he became human again, since he still had some powers from when he was a revenant, but he had a life he could lose; which would’ve put him on equal footing with Ryu. But maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about with this theory of mine. Either way, I’m glad Scorpion won. I’m just bummed it was obvious he would win.

Hanzo has all the Hell-Fire powers however if he uses too much Scorpion persona wins over his body again. So he doesn't use it all that much and gets killed by Havik,then he fights his Scorpion persona in purgatory,wins and comes back to life,one-shots Havik and teleports his head to Hell. Yeah,Scorpion still wins.

@@altxogershavelayers5166 so, by _winning_ against the Scorpion persona, did Hanzo _kill_ the Scorpion persona and retain the powers, or was that more of a symbolic battle and the Scorpion persona still exists? Whatever the answer, I’m sure Hanzo/Scorpion would beat Ryu regardless. I just ask out of curiosity.

@@JJ_R Well they where both "dead" the place where they where fighting was specifically the burned down Shirai-Ryu village. So the answer would be that it is more metaphorical,MKX comics go deep into explaining how his powers work. See he is angry,but that anger isn't the source of his power it is his shame and pain for falling his family.And he was able to weaponize those feelings to avenge their deaths,creating the Scorpion persona. So Hanzo overcoming Scorpion,in the place Scorpion was created (memories of his failures) Sure that is the last time he gets to be resurrected but it also sets him free.

This was probably the oddest one-sided match in DB to date. Not only did the combatants have little to nothing in common, but the fact that Ryu only had ONE method of taking down Scorpion while Scorpion had like a million ways to take down Ryu. There is no way anyone requested this match, DB just did it because they can.

@@mightymanatee5342 Ok then, let me be more specific. Yes, DB and all versus channels can pit whomever they want against anyone they want, *because they can*. But in DB’s case, nearly every combatant they pit against has some similarities, whether it’s by request or after thought; Shao Khan vs. M Bison: Final Bosses of their respective games and soul manipulators, Danny Phantom vs. Jake Long: Teenage heroes who turn into mythical creatures. Ryu vs. Scorpion, what’s the similarity? That they’re the most popular characters in their franchises? Ryu in Street Fighter, yes. Scorpion in Mortal Kombat, that’s debatable. This just felt like a battle they wanted to do because they had no better ideas ready at that time, idk.

I've always wondered, given that this was made before the events of Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat XL, if these results would still be the same, what with Hanzo becoming human in XL. But since they usually go for characters at their peak and Hanzo... well, died in 11 and we got Scorpion back in his hellspawn form, but on the side of good... Yeah, I think Scorpion would still win.

Now this was...a really weird matchup. Why Scorpion? why not Liu Kang? I mean sure they did it in DBX but....why this? None the less, this is still one of the fights I do enjoy for how long it is and how well animated it is, especially since this was an old death battle and animates better than some future ones we had *Yeah i'm looking at you >:(*

@@darksonicyt5430 It is good that the match up has variety and difference between the characters power. Liu and Ryu are no less different,backstory and character wise than Scorpion and Ryu. That would make for a match up where characters have 0 connections based on their,you know....character and the fight would be two buff dudes shooting differently colored fireballs and punching each other. Let's be real when SF and MK rivalry was at it's peak you were either shouting "Haduken!" or "Get over here!"
