Been doing research for 2 weeks. Spending so much money on a bag, I had to be sure. Almost settled on the Royale... the your video came across when I stopped looking. We are the same height and weight, now I'm getting the Jr. Thanks

Thank you for giving your height. It helped put into perspective more about the pack. I finally might get it now after watching this

Thanks for the look at the pack. I ordered the large size pack yesterday. I’m around 5’8” tall and I’ll have to reign in the desire to over pack it. I basically wanted the taller bag for two specific reasons, to put my wool blanket inside when it’s wet outside and for stowing my motorcycle riding over pants at work. A traditional pack used up traditionally (at times) in my case. lol

Thanks, Exactly what i was looking for, I have been able to put my hands on the Senior version and it is huge! I was torn between the Mini and the Jr. The Jr seems to be the overall best all round pack.

How much weight can this pack comfortably hold?
@awesomeoutdoors17862 ай бұрын
The pack its self could handle as much weight as you could handle but not comfortably, at all especially if you hiking far or up hills. It’s an old design and can really pull on your shoulders when loaded up. For comfort I wouldn’t go over 20kg or 25 at a push. Hope this helps

Very informative video, thank you. Will the Jr be OK for a 4 days / 3 nights hike (sleeping bag and mats, tarp ) ?
@awesomeoutdoors17864 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I have done many multi night canoe trips using only this pack. Once you get used to packing it and only bring what you need it’s plenty big enough. If you want to bring some luxury items it pairs well with a haversack. Thanks for your comment. Atb, Jonathan

Thanks for the video....unfortunately I found this to late. I have the large Royale and really wish I had purchased the Jr. Great packs though that will last a lifetime.

Troy Manning no problem I hope it helped somebody. They are all great packs and if I could afford all 3 sizes I would buy them all. If your looking for something a little smaller the mini looks great. But I recently got the fjallraven Stubben and I love it it’s so practical with the old school looks. I would highly recommended it too. I may even do a video on it. All the best, Jonathan

thanks, vid really helps, thinking im going with the big boy model extra space would be a nice option when needed also do you keep your bedroll/sleeping kit inside the pack?
@awesomeoutdoors17868 жыл бұрын
Great glad it helped let me know when you get it and what you think of it 👍🏼 I got the bed roll straps with it and I roll my termarest mat up in my wool blanket and strap them to the bottom the old school way. I sleep with a 700 fill down jacket with a hood that packs down to about a 4" ball. But if I was bringing my sleeping bag I'd leave it loose like one of the other guys has in his review. Thanks again hope you enjoy the pack.

I went with the Isle Royal Sr pack and it is massive. The packs weight quite a lot on their own but thats what you get for the quality. I'm 5.9 and weight about 10 stone. After doing 83 miles in 6 days wild camping i can say it is comfortable and I think i will break before it does. My mate had a eurohike pack and it broke on day 4 and we had to bodge it with a load of tape. With it being frameless it does take a while getting the packing right.
@awesomeoutdoors17868 жыл бұрын
Dean Willcox thanks for watching and yes there's no fear of them breaking I love it and I'm glad you love yours money well spent 👍🏼 all the best Johnny

Do you regret getting the large size? I'm debating between the two
@dean47844 жыл бұрын
J eff depends on what you need it for. I still use mine for doing a weekly shop, fishing trips and short breaks away. I still load it with a stupid amount of weight and although it looks wore the rivets and straps are all good. It is too big for a single day trip and I don’t use it if I’m just popping out. This pack is for longer trips or carrying heavy loads. I did think when I brought it I will get the larger size and just won’t fill it if I don’t need too but to be honest it’s so heavy and bulky you don’t want to carry the excess bulk for no reason.

I added a 7gal recycling bucket inside the pack for structure. I cut out the front and a portion of the sides of the bucket, works really well.

The Sr. Is still a great pack but is a monster and not for EDC. it took me months to make up my mind and I'm happy I chose the jr. That's why I made this video because it's hard to judge the size. You would sell that pack no problem it would be snapped up. Thanks all the best, Johnny 👍🏼
@serg48838 жыл бұрын
Yeah, many have resold their Sr packs for the Jr. The Jr is a perfect size for most folks.

I’ve had my pack for7 years with everyday use from Louisiana to alaska . I have to say I laugh at all the reviews that unbox it fill it full of crap walk around the living room then give it a review. As for mine I love it for my every day work pack . As far as outdoor activities like hunting, hiking it totally sucks. Really heavy especially when wet and with normal use it will smell like a wet dog.
