Yeah! Ended up helping a bit with the GH2 campaign, did two conventions and a metal fest so... bit of a delay lol. Next video is Frosthaven and already recorded. Next two video scripts are also Frosthaven!

I never played Gloomhaven and started Frosthaven as the Geminate without a good grasp of any fundamental knowledge. I ended up parking it and playing the Banner Spear, and when she retired I went back to it and I found it much more satisfying to play. I think the contrast to how "normal" characters play was really valuable in understanding the best ways to utilize the Geminate's strengths and mitigate its weaknesses. I'm playing the Trap now and think I might go back to it once I retire again. Also talk about needing to prepare to the scenario! I got very harshly stomped in a few scenarios because I was too focused on specific patterns of play that just weren't helpful with what we needed to do. It also taught me that cards aren't precious and burning them is good and right - whether that lesson is correct, it's what I learned. Poor Trap wished I hadn't...

I just want you to know you have helped me greatly in understanding so much of the FH world. You helped me choose my starting Class in the Boneshaper, which I just retired, and have chosen Geminate as my second class. I seem to be attracted toweard the more complicated ones, but Im still going through this video to learn about it before its first scenario next week. I just have to find the time, because it is a loooooooong video :) I would love to see a short video that explains the basic mechanics of every class in the game, if possible. Its not easy to find this information in short form online.

For Locust Host, my group chose to ignore the errata/faq and play the card with the round symbol intact. Makes more sense flavor-wise that a swarm of locusts would stick around similar to a trap for the round, and anyone who entered those hexes would be attacked. Wayyy more fun to play it that way, I have no idea why they changed it. It has potential to be abused, but well... good! Felt like an old gh card.

Watching this one again. We finished JOTL and thought we'd switch to "Tales from the Red Dragon Inn" for a bit while we waited on GH 2.0... but, while it's super fun, we all miss the Gloomhaven world and mechanics and, honestly, complexity! So, Frosthaven will be here in a few weeks and I am, once again, thinking Geminate may be my first character. It fits my GEMINI-ness so well! 😆 If Boneshaper seems to go better with what my kids choose though I may do that. We shall see. Thanks again, as always, for all these videos!

Thank you for the guide! It's awesome to get high quality FH content like this! I just retired my Coral and now looking forward to playing Geminate in a 2-player team with Shackles. The synergy between those two classes seem ridiculous! Planning to use the 2-perk "discard a card to recover a card" perk to play Reckless Jab way more often than what seems fair (I hope that's as good as I think it is).

I tend to recur Drag Down more often than Reckless Jab, the immobilize is just as good as disarm, and sometimes I need the Form Change. But with Shackles, Reckless Jab is a powerful choice. On range side, I like to recur anything with a Form Change, Mind Spike, and the looting X card

I chose the Circlet of Elements as a starting item, and use it frequently to get the elements I need or keep them around for one more turn for the loss cards. It has worked out very well, in addition to the right elements just being there sometimes randomly, so that the bonus element effects have been easier to use in battle (and this class is way funner using the element effects). I rely a bit more on healing from the rest of the group instead of me being a healer, and use the push/pull and disarms/immobilizes as a crowd control build.

Surprised you didn’t talk about the “stamina potion” double perk, since it drastically changes the Geminate play pattern; ie it becomes more of a “I have 1 really good attack on both sides, and a bunch of conditional support actions and powerful lost actions”. You mentioned how each card gets played 1-2 times per scenario, but the stamina perk allows you to play one card often to boost your damage output and to reserve other cards only when you want the flexibility for niche healing/buffing/pushing (instead of being forced to play a niche card every rest cycle) I think a good play pattern is using 1 lost action on the first rest cycle, picking up a card and playing 4 turns with one form, 3 turns with the other. If you don’t use any lost actions in the first rest cycle, you are not pulling your weight compared to your teammates. After that, I try to go for 1-2 lost actions every rest cycle. That tends to generate an appropriate amount of exp and also times my rests with my teammates. The “stamina potion” perk is great if you are able to enchant a level 1 attack and recur it consistently. At level 7 I found myself recurring Corrosive Acids, it really powers up the bug. The permanent lost auras on the X cards are the only actions that are not strong, I think they were designed to help with Geminate’s intricacies, but they weren’t as helpful as they should have been. I did like range’s Reshape the Guide more (since I’m a Loot fiend, sometimes I would recur it just to loot even more)

The play style of being proactive about burning losses reminds me of my first character the Cragheart who had the PQ to become exhausted X number of times ton a fun to blow up the early rooms with the expectation you probably would not make it out of the final room alive.

I love this perk and use it pretty much every time I play a loss. I took it first and don’t regret it. Allows me to frequently reuse good non loss cards and to keep each side of my hand relevant/optimized as I get closer to having to rest. Prevents having to rest early when you have odd numbers of range or melee cards for the round. Overall I consider it must have/game changing.

We will likely be retiring our Trap and Blinkblade simultaneously. I'm considering Geminate and she is considering our newly unlocked Astral or making a second run with the trap, since it will be an extremely quick retirement. I know they don't overlap on elements, but I also see the Geminate can leech any element to make what they need, which might hamper the Astral too much. Any thoughts on that class combination? Other current classes are Meteor and Fist, who clearly use the same elements. Fist is very near retirement too.

Geminate is an all-rounder, in that it can be your off-tank bruiser/striker, or it can be your element-generator (at level 5) and healer/looter. The only class it has direct synergy with would be Shackles. Geminate works best with Fire Ice Sun elements since it can constantly keep those elements up, and it doesn’t need to leech elements

i have more than 400+ hours into GH and started FH with the geminate. this char sounded very interseting but was a huge letdown to play. i was lucky with an easy personal quest so i played this char only 9 scenarios

I assume that it exists to help players recover a "Form Swap" card from their Discard pile, in case they need to switch forms again but all of the "Form Swap" cards are currently in their discard pile.
