Thanks a lot for checking out our terrain! I’d like to echo what Jeff said, your videos are partly to blame for creating my obsession with Gloomhaven terrain lol. Appreciate you going into the finer details and the work with magnets, we’ve had that on our To-Do List for quite a while. It’s cool to see other people’s take on paint schemes too!

Hey GamingGeek. I am VERY interested in walking the same path as you for a 3D GH/FH board. Years later, would you still recommend Talisman Sabre, with a combo of openlock and magnets? If not, do you recommend a different solution? The variable height is what really makes it pop! Thank you so much for any advice you could offer!
@gaminggeek241 Жыл бұрын
Good question. If you want height, I would definitely go with openlock. You don't have to do the magnets but they are more for convenience sake. Talisman came out with their own magnet system but it's a lot of magnets for each hex! I prefer mine with a single magnet per hex. But really, you can get away with just using clips and you would be perfectly okay with that.

Thanks for the great video. What type of filament do you use for terrain?

I got the all in pledge, now I just have to figure out if I'm going to print them on the Prusa Mini or the Saturn. Would you recommend fdm or resin?
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
I would recommend FDM because you are going to save a LOT of money. But you might want to do some of the traps, statues, and terrain overlays in resin for the greater detail.
@argon657 Жыл бұрын
I’ve got a question: if I’m not mistaken, creating the different heights/layers to the board is your own idea/invention: if I wanted to create terrain with different heights, which pieces should I print out to make the risers? And how many risers would I need in total? How many differing heights, etc.?
@gaminggeek241 Жыл бұрын
They actually have risers you can use that I think they created during the last campaign. The height really is dependent on how tall you want things to be. I like having a lot of variability in height (only for aesthetics because there is no gameplay impact with height). But totally up to you. I would print some risers out and go from there.
@argon657 Жыл бұрын
@@gaminggeek241 very cool. Since I posted this comment I actually figured that out on Talisman Sabres printing PDF. How many risers did you wind up printing out and how many would you recommend printing?

I like the z axis aspect of this, but I've been using maghex for a while, and it's hard to see why I would move away from that. I wish there where a closer type to type comparison. Also how do you magnetize your minis?
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you are already invested in Maghex, there isn't reason to switch over unless you wanted the walls. I did a video on how I magnetize minis for condition markers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZWmq42ebqt3hrM Is that what you mean?

Hello. Thank you for the info in this video. I haven't bought the TsT files yet and wanted to do some estimating... I am wondering if anyone can comment how many hexes you need to print to have complete campaigns. This might include the custom walls and so on. I'm trying to estimate time and cost to do the whole set.

If you message them on their website contact, they can give you a list that you need to print.

Enrique, I know that Lambo just created a magnet system that enables the hexes to connect to each other: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6POmYWqgZyCmq8 I'm not sure when he is going to release the new tiles. But if you want my mods, I'm willing to share them with you as long as Lambo is okay with it. Just include me in an email communication with him. My email is gbummer@gmail.com

Did you slice the terrain with adaptive layers on? That may have made for some smoother tops so that you wouldn't have to print vertically.

Scratch my last question about your 3D printers: I just found the vids! I did have one more question however; what was the overall cost in terms of filament (raw material) for printing out all of the Gloomhaven terrain? If I try this what should I anticipate needing in terms of filament and money down? Keep up the great content!
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
So for what I printed out (which is a little more than half of what you need for the complete set) I used three rolls of PLA. I use eSun + and Hatchbox which is about $22/roll (all black).
@argon6573 жыл бұрын
@@gaminggeek241 that’d still be less expensive than paying for molds and the necessary flow stone I’d think if one were to make the terrain the old fashioned way. 🤔

So it's you buy the product? Or are there files to print your own for TALISMAN?
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
Both--you can purchase the set from Talisman Sabre where they print the tiles for you (and an option for them to paint them as well) or you can just purchase the STL files so you print them out yourself. The current Kickstarter has discounted prices from what the regular price will be after the Kickstarter.

Why not put magnets in the doors so they magnetize to the center of a tile?
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
You would have to magnetize the top of the tiles too in order for that to work--right now, the magnet is only on the bottom of the tile except for on the risers. But that's an idea.
