If you're just starting out in D&D and you don't have time or resources to 3D print or buy large numbers of minis look up Giant in the Playground and their webcomic Order of the Stick. A while back they did a kickstarter to pay for new print runs of their books. One of the backer rewards was a series of pdfs called Monsters for Every Season. The pdfs are 30 to 60 pages of paper craft minis for most of the 3rd and 3.5 D&D monsters. All drawn in the art style of the Order of the Stick webcomic. Last I checked, they had 5 different pdfs of these paper craft minis on the website that hosts their store. Priced at $6 suggested donation. Download the pdfs, print off the pages with minis you need, cut them out, and fold them into simple A-frames. It's simple, cheap, fast, and supports a good artist.

just to let you know, you didn't mention hero forge AT ALL. you can make your own figs, which is the literal purpose of the site. yeah you can't get every creature, but damn you can make just about everything that's at all human shaped. and they are expanding their stuff, like every few months they add a whole bunch of objects for the figs to hold and such. you can either download the file or buy a already printed fig AND you can get it made of metal!

Hey Danny! Many many thanks for your videos! You encourage me yesterday to order my first 3D printer: an ender 3. The main reason for my choice is the price of course. The second one is the quality of your printed minis with the ender 3. My question is, do you have a video or post on Reddit to check all your features on your printer? Your modified profile as well as your upgrades on the printer? Many many thanks for all the free content you are sharing in your videos. It is very powerful and useful.

have a feeling once you start printing with it - you are going to wish you bought the resin one instead.... the quality between the 2 for minatures is not close unfortunately... resin is toxic, expensive and really not great for the home unless you have a well ventilated area that you can monitor while the print is going on... but - the quality is so much better!

pretty much every 3D printer can do it, it's just a matter of how much print space you want and how much you're willing to spend vs how much effort you're willing to put in to maintainign the 3D printer. Least effort, expensive = upbox, makerbot, zortrax etc most effort, cheap = creality, ender3 etc though technically resin printers (anycubic, form2) make much much better smaller details, making them ideal for tabletop minis, they smell bad, are more toxic and very messy, so you'll need a particularly suitable space with lots of ventilation and away from your usual living spaces in order to run it.

I can't, in good conscience, recommend it honestly. It's not that it isn't capable of doing great entry level prints - it's just the number of people I know who've given it a shot and had a terrible experience far outweighs the number of people who've had a good experience with it. I think you're best off waiting for the Photon to go on sale (usually they hit $360 here in the US about once a month, and often multiple times).
